Allen's Story
Allen is from Boonton, New Jersey. He is married with Betti Downs Voorhees. His schools include Boonton High School. He works(ed) at Northcliffe Baptist Church, Retired.
Allen's interests include Fishing and Water Polo, Music, Baseball, New York Yankees, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Rays, Joe Namath, Muhammad Ali. Music he likes includes Gibson, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra. Books he likes include They Call Me Baba Booey, Sidney Sheldon, The Bible. Movies he likes include The Shawshank Redemption, Blazing Saddles, It's a Wonderful Life. TV shows he likes include WTSP 10 News, Oddities, Nova.

More about Allen:"Most of you know me or know someone thats knows me. I am pleased to have your acquaintance. Being raised in a small town, I find that facebook has brought some of that feeling back into my life. I have been able to connect with some old friends, discover some new friends and develop family relaionships that I didnt even know existed.
Over the years I have done many wonderful things. I have also done some not so wonderful things and some pretty downright stupid things. All in all I can't complain.
I grew up loving fishing, baseball, hockey and working hard. Although the working hard part was quite often not easy to do,but over the years I learned it was the only thing to do if I ever wanted to have the things I wanted. I dont mean the materiel things, I mean the real things like love, respect, integrity and God and family.
I am amazed at the number of you that actually remember things we have done together. My childhood was great, my teen years were a bit rough and my adult life is finally coming together after lots of hard lessons.
I have found that I did alot of judging people just by their outside appearance, which was a terrible thing...Expand for more
to do. Especially because so many judged me that way and I know the pain it brings. I have always been a fighter, never gave up and a bit arrogant. The arrogance is what gets me in trouble and caused me to defend myself many times during my youth. The nickname Bubbles didnt help much either.

So, now it's tme to continue my story. I was born with little hope of living more that a few months. I was taken to New York Hospital a few short weeks after my birth where they told my Mom that there was nothing they could do. I had some sort of growth in my abdomen and they couldnt remove it. I have the scar to remind me and the audacity to prove them wrong. I remember the stories of how my Mom and Nana had to keep me from crying so that my wound would'nt open. This is just one story of how God has shown me he has a plan for me. My life was spared again in 1967 when riding with a friend we were introduced to a tree on the side of the road. I remember the crash, I remember waking up and going to a local house for help and scaring the people half to death. I guess I didnt look so good at the time. The ambulance came and took us both to the hospital, I stayed and my friend was treated and released. What happened before that is another sign from God that I must live. As the ambulance was passing under a railroad tressel a train was passing overhead and fell through the tressel missing the ambulance by a second or two. I remember the medics saying "Did you see that?". After getting out of the hospital I went back to the area and sure enough there was a train car on the side of the road. Once again God has a plan for me. There were a few other events that could have been fatal like the time I almost electrocuted myself unhooking a dryer, but the point here is...God has been with me all of my life.
