Personal: Ms. Love spent the first 26 years of her life in Tennessee & moved to South Carolina in August of 1990. In June 1997, Ms. Love was appointed by The Citadel Board of Visitors as one of the first two women to become a member of The Citadel Board of Visitors. Then, in April 2000, she was elected by the SC General Assembly and became the first voting woman on the Citadel Board. She was re-elected in 2006, 2012 and 2018.
When she's not working or involved with The Citadel, she enjoys traveling, horse-back riding, going to the beach, playing golf, eating oysters and photography.
I always wanted to be a photographer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a low-paying idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I blow off steam by working out and getting away from everyone!
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have flexibility, low supervision, and a positive attitude to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My heroes are my friends who help balance me out, inspire me and lift my spirits, such as my friend, Myrt Riggs who passed away at age 89. She was the consummate professional, classy lady with spunk who knew how to get things done with a smile! I admire anyone who can communicate well and has a positive attitude, plus anyone who is a principled leader with character, integrity and honor.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is John Scott, because we were annual staff photographers together in high school and share the same inspiration by photography.
If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to The Citadel, then spend the rest on a new car, travel and camera.
My current age is 57. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be so old. I was so wrong!
I'm living the dream and loving my PR/Communications consulting business. I love working with groups like The Today Show, The Weather Channel, FOX News, Raycom, National Geographic, etc. Love being able to incorporate my photography into my business and love helping organizations with disaster/crisis communications issues. A crisis can be an opportunity if handled correctly!
I am a Colonel in the Unorganized Militia of South Carolina.
In 10 years, I hope to be retired and traveling the world. I'm going to get there by 3-5 years from now.
I think everyone probably remembers me as shy and quiet, but organized and participative. Everyone would be shocked to know I've been on TV, radio and doing speeches for the better part of the past 20 years and have done between more than 8,000 on-the-air interviews.
Having served in a number of leadership roles for so many years, I am much more forceful, decisive and more of a leader than ever before. I have little patience for indecisiveness and lack of leadership. I know better who I am and what I stand for more than ever.
I sometimes work 20 hours a day and I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction out of making a difference.
I recently participated in a panel discussion on "Spiritually Inspired Leadership." "Walk in a manner worthy of your calling."
I could be voted "Most Changed Personality!"
The most important things in life are finding your passion, purpose, making a difference and leaving a legacy. Whatever you do, do it with all your heart!
