Aloma's Story
Of course, I grew up in Donelson (Donelson Elementary, Jr and High) with a wonderful group of friends and relatives. Started working for an insurance broker doing commercial insurance in Nashville in 1962 and that company sold to Travelers eventually and I followed the gentlemen I worked with into a retail agency. Married in 1963 to a man who was being transferred to Memphis on a job and so I went to work immediately with one of the largest agencies in Memphis and started working with a man who would eventually retire to Sea Island, GA in 1986 but decided to get back into the business and brought me here in l989 to head up his office on St Simons Island and now in Brunswick, GA. So in a few short sentences you can see that I've been in the insurance field for a really, really long time and I don't know if I will ever retire. The husband I was married to earlier passed away...Expand for more
in the early 70's and I remarried in 1990 to a wonderful man. I never had children unless you can count all my pets through the years. I now live in the county on 6 acres and have horses, goats, ducks, chickens and of course my beloved dogs and cats. I love it here. I love my life, my work, my home, my church. I have traveled a lot through the years, but always love getting back to my home.
When I first moved down here, I would hear people talking about how they never went to the beach anymore - I thought they were crazy. I felt like I was on vacation for the first three years and actually worked close to the beach. Now, I am one of those people. The only time I go to the beach is when company comes or if we want to go walking on the pier or sit and watch the people go by. So if you ever get down this way, let me know and I'll go to the pier and watch for you!!
