Alona's Story

My Life So Far.... The Good Lord has been very good to me. .My 3 daughters; Liana, and twins Tammie & Pammie have blessed me with seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren and they're all wonderful! My husband, David spoils me beyond belief! Until I met him, my adult life had a lot of ups & downs; mostly downs, but I learned from them. We've traveled quite a bit and have visited five continents together, but we really enjoy being at home, mostly because we've found the perfect place to live, also known as "God's Country"....that's right, the GREAT state of TEXAS!! It's really everything you've heard Texans brag about and more! We have a house on 25 acres in Fredericksburg. I swear our little town looks like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, I kid you not! Actually we live about 12 miles outside of town & travel two miles to our mailbox, but that's life in the country. We still go back to vacation in Florida once in awhile.... gotta get our "water fix” & to Southern California to Visit friends there. We bought an RV but after a few cross country trips my husband sold it. “I” LOVED it, but my husband, not so much! So now, when he tells friends that I “always get my way”....I remind him about the RV we used to have.. I'd love to hear from old friends, so if you're reading this and remember me from school.... I was the skinny girl, long hair & a Southern accent..... please don’t try Facebook...never had it & never will..can hardly keep up with e-mails for cryin' out loud...Expand for more
! Have to wait for the grandkids to come for a visit so they can help me with things I can't do on my iPhone, like that TV commercial. Hopefully I can get to the next '65 Class Reunion, when it comes around. My storm chasing days are over. My family really put the pressure on my oldest daughter & me to "tone it down" after a much publicized fatal car accident of a well known storm chaser. So these days, I'm getting a lot of reading done..... favorite authors are : Nelson DeMille, Brad Thor, Harlan Coben, James Michener & Joel Rosenberg. I recently read "Tribe" by Sebastian Junger.....really interesting and learned some interesting things from it. My dislikes are people who "talk over other people", computers, I prefer life the way it was before, but then again, I wouldn't be able to write this if it weren't for them, (meaning the computers) so they DO have their good points, but YUK!!!...and don't get me started on FACEBOOK and Twitter! I have many fond memories of North Hollywood High & my time there. Not sure if I will be able to attend the next reunion; sure hope so! I’ve had the good fortune to keep in touch & visit with a few classmates in person, like Sue Saint Hilaire (what a sweet, kind person) & Bruce Kessler who still looks amazingly like he did in high school! With 7 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren, who are scattered all over the U.S., I’m kept pretty busy keeping in touch with them & planning yearly events so that we can all come together once a year.
