Alyssa's Story
Life
After high school I went to UNL thinking I wanted to be a chemical engineer. BORING.....3 semesters into it I changed to pre-pharmacy with the prodding of a Walgreens pharmacist and a store manager. I was accepted into the Pharm.D. program at UNMC and started there in 1993. I graduated in May of 1997. I went out an bought my first new vehicle, which was a Ford F-150. I loved that truck. Then I bought a house shortly thereafter in Cherry Ridge.
A year later I ended up selling the house and moved to Council Bluffs to live with the man of my dreams. We bought a house and had a baby girl, Jaiden, a few years later. The man ...Expand for more
of my dreams turned into the man of my nightmares and we split up in 2003.
I got an excellent job opportunity up here in Sioux City and just frankly needed to get away from my situation at the time.
I do enjoy my job and like the people I work with, but I do miss seeing my friends more often. I have decided to move back in another year.
Workplace
I started working for Walgreens in Millard when I turned 16. Guess what? I still work for Walgreens almost 16 years later. At least I have progressed. I am the pharmacy manager in a large volume store. I manage about 20 pharmacists/technicians. And I am a single mom. So I stay busy.
