Life In high school my name was Jayme. I never really liked the name much, so a few years ago I changed it to Am'thyst. I don't even really identify with my birth name at all, so not many people who know me now even know what my birth name is, and I prefer to keep it that way. I have two beautiful children. My son was born shortly after graduation, in November of 1994. He is now a high school graduate himself and doing very well as an adult person. My daughter did not come until 11 and a half years later, in April of 2006. I am blessed to have two extraordinary people in my life who call me "Mom". Guess it was never a huge secret that I never quite fit the mold of "normal". Now in my late 30's, I'm an out n' proud lesbian, living on Long Island, New York, with my tattoo artist partner. I stopped working after my pregnancy with my daughter due to years of medical problems taking their toll, making regular work an impossibility for me.
