Amanda's Story
Workplace
I am an E-5 in the U.S. Navy. The first couple of years I scraped paint, sanded, and repainted the outside of the ship, worked with small boats and cranes, landed helicopters onboard, moored ship to shore, etc... Then I moved up to navigation and watching radars for surface and air contacts. I am still in that field, but I now work with the Army and watch screens using satellites for early warning missile defense.

stationed on the USS Whidbey Island in VA Beach, VA. From there I visited Puerto Rico, St. Martin, Spain, Turkey, and Bahrain. I was transferred to San Diego, CA on the USS Oldendorf and the USS Fletcher. From there I visited Mexico, Australia, Singapore, Bahrain, Oman, and UAE (United Arab Emigrates). I am now stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. So far I have had the opportunity to visit Italy, Poland, Ireland, South Korea, and Qatar. I wor a lot, but on my opff time I do a lot of traveling and enjoy the life of other cultures.
