Amber's Story

December 2013 Story addition: I wanted to share with my friends/classmates that my Daddy went to be with our LORD on July 20, 2013. If you were ever around him, you couldn't help but like him! He always wanted our home to be open to my friends and some of you may recall he gave me a birthday party (by himself-mother was out of town) when I was in the 9th grade - complete in his clown "POPS" makeup and his little red "Popping Car", complete with the wooden "Funny Face" Barrel in the bed! I believe in was full of "Rootin-Tootin Raspberry" flavored drink mix. In 2012, Daddy was recognized as a 50 year Scimitar Shriner. I was so proud of and for him! I miss Daddy a lot but seem to feel his presence in everything I do daily. With this addition, below is my original story from July 2012: Amber (Bright) White, LRCHS Class of 1978. I was a cheerleader and active in Student Council, receiving "The Most Tiger Spirit" Award at graduation... look me up in our yearbook! Attended University of Arkansas at Fayetteville 1978-1982, graduating with a BS in Public Administration. Pledged and maintain sisterhood in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. I had the honor of being an Sigma Alpha Epsilon Little Sister, was active with Student Government and served on the University's Celebrity Showcase Committee which brought famous and well-known entertainment to the campus. Married 1988-1998, raising two sons for fourteen years in Tupelo, MS, as a single mother. Sons, Jacobs Overbey "Jake" Clemons age 22 and Charles Everett "Rett" Clemons age 20 are my "Thank you Lord"! Jake attended college in MS and TX. He proudly serves in the United States Navy (Special Operations), stationed in Norfolk, VA. Rett attends college in Houston, TX/ Re-married in December 2011 (still a newlywed or in my case on "old"ywed) and moved to Kemah, TX where my husband, Johnny has owned an insurance agency for 36 years! nsets are truly picturesque and I am blessed to have such a wonderful man to "grow mature" with now that my sons are grown. We enjoy fishing, riding motorcycles, traveling and visiting family in Arkansas! Sadly, my father took ill on July 1st and passed away on July 20, 2013. As many of you remember, he was not only my dad... he was a clown called "POPS". Look up his obituary and it will bring a smile to your face! My career exploded in my mid 30's, serving as the Director of the Diabetes Treatment Center and Wound Center at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. In my late 40's I left the medical field to pursue a passion, restructuring a former church building (with over 50,000 square feet) to an arts and cultural center. I could then give some of the organizations on which I held board membrships a home, including the Northeast MS Girl Scouts and the Tupelo Symphony Guild. My last board membership while living in Tupelo was with the Northeast MS Red Cross and although saddened to leave my home, friends, work and community involvement of 20 years - I know I left a part of me, my life with all I served and those friendships I will maintain. I am not working full-time since moving to Texas, but provide public relations and marketing to my husband's agency as needed. Oh, did I mention Deuce... He's our 11 plus year old Irish Wolfhound, weighing 115lbs. My close friends will remember I had a silver poodle, Tinsel, in high school. (and a homeless white mix of cocker and poodle, Baby, that I brought home during a rain storm) So believe me, we did not go out searching for this "extra-large" dog. Deuce was given to my sons as a gift at the church picnic when they were 10 and 8! He loves our new home... watching the fish jump in the water, chasing ducks out of the pool and hot tub and lying in the cool grass. I attended our class reunion in June 2012 and enjoyed seeing not only those in the Class of 1978, but those attending from the Class of 1977. God Bless, Amber
