Amberly's Story
Life
Attending our 20-year Reunion really took me back and brought back some treasured memories! It was wonderful to renew old friendships, especially those of some of my closest high school friends, and it was funny watching everyone try to figure out who everyone else was!
After high school I auditioned for the Apache Belles and attended Tyler Junior College for two years. Being an Apache Belle and dance captain, I had some incredible experiences such as performing At Dallas Cowboys games, Houston Oilers games, Ranger games, Cotton Bowl parade, and traveling to DC as guests performing at the Cherry Blossom Festival. After these first two years, I returned home and began working. I danced for the Dallas arena football league for two seasons, and I met and married Charlie Brown. We eventually moved into the home of my great grandmother in Rockwall and spent a few years remodeling. I returned to school to complete my degree while teaching dance classes for a local dance studio and the YMCA. Once Charlie and I decided to expand our...Expand for more
family, it wasn't as easy as we had hoped. With God's grace and the help of our doctors, Charlie and I conceived twin boys born October 1999. We went on to have another little miracle, a baby boy in October 2001. They are beautiful and have brought an incredible amount of happiness to Charlie and me. In 2002 I became the drill team director at Rockwall High School but soon came to realize the job required too many hours away from home & family. As director, I did have some great experiences with my team traveling to New York, Disney World, and a Carribean cruise for performances, but my most cherished memories are the relationships I established with many of the girls. I stayed three years then made a switch to the dance department at the high school where I am now a dance teacher and dance dept. head. I love this job, I still spend my days with wonderful students, and it doesn't take me away from home after- hours AT ALL! It's the perfect position for ME as well as my family.
