Amencio (Alex)'s Story

Life I've lead a long fruitful life since graduation. It started while I was still a senior in high school. I enlisted in the Texas National Guard delay entry program. Two days after graduation I was sent to Basic Training and Advance Individual Training in Ft. Dix, NJ. Where I was trained to be a driver. Upon my return to my National Guard unit I decided to commit myself fulltime to the military and enlisted in the ARMY. I was sent to Ft. Devens, MA to become a Manual Morse Interceptor (Copy Morse Code). After 9 months of training I graduated and was stationed in Schofield BKS, HI. While in Hawaii (1989-1992) I made the most of my stay there. Visiting The Arizona Memorial, Waimea Falls, Polinesian Culture Center, Pearl Harbor, Waimea Bay, Waikiki and Honolulu to name a few. Physically I kept in shape by Bogey boarding in such beaches as The North Shore, Waikiki, Waimea and Honolulu. I played football and softball for the company team. I also became a part time softball umpire and umpired about 6 games weekly. I bought season tickets to the University of Hawaii football team and attended 3 consecutive PRO-BOWLs at Aloha Stadium. I got to meet such stars as Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Warren Moon, Mark Rypen, and more. I took a few college courses from Hawaii Pacific University to jump start my college career. Hawaii also offered an excelent nightlife that I also made the most of. That's all I'm going to say about that..... After 3 wonderful years in Hawaii, it was time to move on. After all, that's why I joined the military (Travel). I didn't stray to far from Hawaii though, I went to Korea. Camp Humphreys to be more precise. For a single male with no bills or worries, Korea was like a candy store. Shopping and Partying !!!!! Don't get me wrong, the work was long and challenging. Working 12 hour shifts at times. But it was very satisfying. I racked up alot of individual awards while there. I was working hard but ...Expand for more
I play just as hard. That's all I'm going to say about that... After a short year in Korea I moved on to Augsburg, Germany (1993-1995). Once again work was hard and long. But I always made time to travel. Germany you see is the center of Europe. I traveled to Austria, Switzerland, Leichenstein, Holland, Poland, Italy and Amsterdam. While Hawaii is known for it's beaches, surfing and golf; Germany is known for it's past and history. Oh, yes and for it's BEER !!!! Can you say OCTOBER FEST... But all good things must come to an end and so did my stay in Germany and in the ARMY (or so I thought). After my tour in Germany I thought I had had enough and wanted to start a family. So I moved to Kentucky, bought a house, joined the Kentucky National Guard, got married and started my family. In my 6 1/2 years of marriege I fathered 3 beautiful girls. Alexis was my first followed by my twins Selena and Isabella. As a day job, I worked at a medium security prison (North Point Training Center) as a correctional officer. I enjoyed the work there because there was never a dull moment. No two days were the same. Oh the criminal mind... I became preatty good at what I did. I even went on to establish the first Spanish inmate handbook in the institution. The inmates eather liked me or hated me. But they all respected me. I credit my army experience for helping me deal with the inmates. After almost 7 years in Kentucky my marriege came to an end. So I turned to the one job and persons I knew so well. Uncle Sam and the United States Army. They took me back in and sent me to Ft. Lee, VA to train as a Food Service Specialist (Cook). After graduation I was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX. (2002-2004). While there, I finally got to deploy to IRAQ. Upon my return from Iraq, I re-married and moved to Bamberg, Germany. I currently fathered yet another beautiful girl. Estelita. And have a step son Donovan. My wife's name is Jaymi and that's all folks....
