Amy's Story
Life
Shortly after completing my internship at Jefferson Elem. in Wtn. S.D. (Dec. 1997), I relocated to Wisconsin. Less than one year after the move, I became divorced from my high school sweetheart. That was a pivotal moment in my life, indeed! One in which I have learned a lot about myself, both my strengths and weaknesses. However, I believe that experience has changed me for the better!
In January of 1999, I was offered a job in Sioux Falls. After much deliberation, I opted to reside in Eau Claire. I eventually met and married my husband, Demian, who is a native of the area. After our daughter, Arianna, was born in Jan. of 2003, I made the difficult decision of becoming a stay-at-home mom. Instead of teaching, I operated an in-home daycare and was a private tutor for a couple of years. In Aug. of 2005, we had a son, Demetri. ung children as well as upkeeping our house and yard. (I was very thankful for my generous neighbors when I had major snow removal to deal with!!) During my husband's work-related absence, I decided to embark on a new career...writing children's literature. I passed my aptitude test and was soon accepted into the Institute of Children's Literature. I have one year left in the course, and hope to have an article or story published upon completion! My goal is to be a freelance writer. My passion is writing and I love children, so it's the perfect career for me! Not only that, but it's one that enables me to "be my own boss" and allows for flexibility, which is a must since I'll have to "taxi" my children to and from school,extra-curricular activities, doctor appointments, and playdates!
I've had some major challenges in my life since high school graduation, but wouldn't change a thing! It's molded me into who I am today, and quite frankly, I like the new me!!
