Andrea's Story

Life Hi Class of 68' I think of many of you guys from time to time..... I have been out of Texas for many many years. I live in New Mexico in the mountains and love it with a passion. I am married to a musician from Chicago and live in a hacienda in the mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. He has been the best thing to happen to me. We have five dogs (big dogs) and they go everywhere with me. We love exploring all the back roads between here and Colorado. I have been in business for many years I have a studio and deal with old Native American jewelry, rustic furniture and also design clothing. I have two grown girls Amber and April both are married and two grandaughters (Maggie) that is four years old and Isabella that is 1 1/2 yrs old. We have a blast with our baby girls and am enjoying every second of both of them. I didn't mention that I have two great son in laws that I love dearly. We have quite an array of backgrounds. Starting with myself Native American, Irish, Bohemian, French, Italian, and Canadian. We are definitely the typical heinz 57 American family. I have been in business for many years about 25 years and I love it! I think that was one of my problems while in Lubbock High.....I was always day dreaming about exactly my life today! I love sports, backpacking, camping, gardening, having my own business, and mainly designing. We have great friends here and what is most important is Kay Hefner Campbell which was my best friend in Lubbock High.....she lives here in Albuquerque. We have an absolute blast together still........shopping, always laughing, and constantly coming up with ( what we want to do next.....). We laugh so much about all the good times we had in Lubbock Texas we are still the same people that we were back then just a little wiser! Also my brother Dale( he graduated from LHS in the early sixties... lives only five minutes from me so we have alot of fun and still have som...Expand for more
e wild adventures. Hopefully someday I will get to see you guys again! My last wish is for happiness & good kharma to each and everyone of you! Andrea Edgeworth Kurtz School Well, I never had a crush on any high school guys.....I was always looking at older guys actually! I guess it comes from having an older brother and being around he & his friends. When it comes to teachers this is an easy one my home economics teacher Mrs. Williams....I have the fondest memories of her and she made quite and impression on me. She was one of the funniest people I have known she made classes so much fun. Actually she had a part in my life that she does not realize. I credit her with inspiring me to do something with my cooking and to definitely stay away from sewing. I think the exact words ,"dear God stay away from the sewing machine go with your love of cooking ". I love her dearly to this day and would love to see her again. I went on to open a gourmet shop for many years in Memphis Tn. and then on with my present business Black Wolf Rustic's in New Mexico. The other teacher that was unforgettable to me is my history teacher Mr. Reeves. He made learning history so much fun and somehow he was able to mesh with all of us. He would call me and a few others out into the hall and we would bring him up to date with what we were doing the weekend before and laugh forever. HE was absolutely great! I think the funniest thing that happened to me involved him. I was always being called to the office about short skirts along with my best friend Kay Hefner. Mr. Reeves called me up at the end of class and told me that he had something for me. He told me that he had a perfect case for my mini skirts which was a film can that was very small! I still to this day have that film can! Every time that I look at it....it definitely brings a smile to my face. I truly had some great times during my years at Lubbock High. Andrea Edgeworth Kurtz
