Andrea's Story

Life I always said I wanted to do everything I said I would do by 30 and by George, I did. I travelled and lived abroad for many years from the Philippines to Japan, Guam, Indonesia, most of southeast Asia and the pacific rim. I married, had two beautiful children who are now ages 15 and 14. During that time, I completed my degree at the University of the Philippines at Clark AFB and experienced an earthquake and volcanic eruption (Mt Pinatubo) and returned to the states and lived in Kansas and spent a great deal of time on the west coast before ending my marriage and returning to my true home, Atlanta, Georgia. I later became a jeweler, opened my studio/storefront and was in biz for 4 years until 2 robberies within 6 mos of each other changed my thinking about being a sitting duck in a retail storefront. Oh yeah, almost forgot, had an unexpected surprise who is now 9 years old and I married again (also unexpected) and 5 yrs later it was just the children and I once again and has been that way since. Let's just say I have always followed my instincts and had great judgement except for matters of the heart and life goes on... Oh and did I mention skydiving? I always wanted to do it and when I turned 30 I did for the first time and have been several times. Love it!!! I am currently a photographer/research analyst dealing with commercial real estate in the Atlanta market. Love what I do. I will not ever claim to be the cookie cutter PTA soccer mom and I gladly admit because my children have been raised by a free spirited mother who has managed to open their eyes to so much more than their little corner of...Expand for more
the world and it seems that they have inherited that creative and adventurous spirit that makes them so special and unique. I have some truly wonderful friends that make up my very diverse inner circle of "extended family". Some people are fortunate to have 1, maybe 2 people they consider true friends. I am very fortunate to have more. The great thing about your real friends is that they are the family you choose. I am certainly not perfect but I have lived my life to the fullest. I will take the good, bad, ups and downs. I have no regrets. I am happy and I have a great life. To my high school chums, the word is that some of you many years down the road ended up together and now have families. I say bravo!!!! It's amazing how the craziest of circumstances can bring people together after many years in the most pleasant and surprising way! If I were to give advice it would be this: It's easy to love but much harder to let someone really love you back. Pride does not keep you warm at night. It is not there to hold you when you are not having the best moment. It is not beside you under the Christmas tree or when you are ringing in the new year with the softest kiss. Whether you are married, single or single again, if a special moment or wonderful opportunity comes gently knocking or barreling toward you full force, don't push it away or question it because it doesn't make sense and might defy all logic, rhyme or reason, just go with it. Love, really love and invite that special someone into your heart and into your life. True love.... That is the most exciting and wonderful journey of all.
