Life I was born in Royal Oak, MI, and lived in the Detroit area for the first few years of my life. We moved to Bay City when I became school age, and that is where I grew up. After graduating from John Glenn High School in 1994, I went to Delta College for two years, and then to Central Michigan University to major in Logistics and Marketing. I graduated in May of 1999 and later went to work for Eaton Corporation as a Materials Scheduler in Kalamazoo, MI. During that time, I trained as a figure skater in my spare time. It was a hobby I had developed in college and wanted to pursue it further to see how far I could go. After two years of living and working in Kalamazoo, I transfered to Eaton Supercharger in Athens, GA, to work as a Materials Planner. Moving south had been one of my desires and goals, and the transfer seemed like the perfect opportunity. The south was an adjustment for me, but a good one. I had to pursue my figure skating in the Atlanta area because there was no rink in Athens. I made the one hour drive to Duluth, GA about four times a week to train with my new coach, Aren Nielsen, who won the U.S. Bronze title in both 1994 and 1995.
