Andrea's Story
Life
hmm, my life in a nutshell. Well, let's begin after HS. I began IU music conservatory for sax and ended with a degree in Costume design and Fashion business. I continued my ed with an MFA from U Cinti and went on to make costumes around the country for various regional and summer theater. Enroute to one of these jobs I was in a traumatic car crash breaking most of my bones but not my spirit. Within a year I was not only walking again but being more adventurous than ever mountainbiking in the So. Utah mountains. Soon after I met my future husband and moved to NYC. I worked as the costume painter/dyer for Broadway shows Lion King, Cats, Kiss Me Kate . Then on a gig in LA we found out I was to become a mom then moved to Connecticut to a beautiful home on the Applachian trail. Many hike...Expand for more
s later we returned to NYC where I worked for Jill Stuart, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren and witnessed 9-11. 2 little bugs followed and we moved out to the Bay Area where my husband works for Apple and I play Mom.
I run the school's art program and looking to get back into my own creative endeavors soon.
Workplace
Best to begin with life bio but basically went from sax to theater to fashion to mama. Feel very priveleged to have worked in some of the most top-notch Broadway and Fashion companies. Glad to be taking a break from the idiocracy of much of it (please refer to the Devil Wears Prada...) but can't help but miss some of the glam!
Next pursuits will possibly be in home textiles even venturing into the architectural but we'll see. San Jose is not as inspirational as New York...
