Andrew's Story
Time has flown by since high school. I went to Hudson Valley Community College for Engineering to save on college expenses. Clarkson was out of my range. From HVCC I transferred to Union College. Completed three years and graduated with BS in Civil Engineering and Industrial Economics. Worked for DOT in Albany for a few months and then for Niagara Mohawk (now National Grid) in Syracuse for 32 years. Held positions in engineering, generation planning, finance, strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions, customer service, credit & collections. I retired from National Grid in September 2009 and worked in the consulting business for a few years.
Married Carol Snyder (class of 1973) in 1975, have two children and ten grandchildren. Life is beautiful! My favorite past times are fixing things, working in my shop and riding motorcycles. You may remember I had a motorcycle in high school. The tradition has continued and I...Expand for more
have passed the sport on to my son.
Carol and I lived in Cazenovia, NY for 38 years and currently near Cleveland, OH.
Life elements that sustained me for 50 years include faith in God, love of family, honesty, integrity, hard work, having fun and helping others. I live each day to the fullest and encourage my kids and grandchildren to be the best at whatever they decide to be.
Has my personality changed since high school? To a degree. I was a misfit and the shy type in high school. College and career brought the extravert out and I discovered I was a good leader.
My wife, Carol, is my best friend. She has been by my side for over 40 years, through thick and thin. She has tolerated my imperfections, encouraged my strengths, and taught me much about priorities and stopping to smell the roses. I love her dearly. I expect many more years together...The child raising years are behind us. A new chapter has begun...
