Andrew's Story
Life
After being graduated with a degree in Cultural Anthropology, I entered the field of Fine Arts. I exhibit my paintings and installations in galleries, Contemporary Arts Centers and museums in North America, Europe, China, and Central America. My first solo exhibition in a European museum was quite an honor, and a genuine thrill. I´m currently working on a series of new digital photographic images and a digital 16:9 multiple video multi-media installlation. As for job satisfaction, I have it in spades. And I get along great with the boss.
Workplace
I work indoors and out. Over the last year, and especially this year, I have again, for the first time in 25 years, been doing a lot of photography. My next exhibition, W A S P , scheduled for January, 2008, will consist of pigment printed digital photographs,...Expand for more
tempera painting on banana leaf paper, and a collaborative intervention, with a soundtrack compiled by myself and mixed by my sister-in-law, the Fab Gab Lafon. It will be my first solo exhibition in Costa Rica, in the capitol, San Jose, at the Casa Cultura Jose Figueres Ferrer. Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso will write the essay, which is pretty generous considering his stature. He has also offered me the opportunity to have a solo exhibition in the Gallery Amon in 2008, so it looks like it may be quite a while before I get back to Brussels....Additionally, I am in the process of starting a not-for-profit arts organization. The focus will be international visual artists exchanges and artist-in-residencies. We will provide community enrichment service working with locals, teaching fine art practices. Life is good!
