Andrew's Story

After Seacrest, I spent 4.5 years in the Air Force, mostly in S E Asia and Japan. I went into business with my Dad in '67, but decided to go back to school in '68. PBJC for me! While going to school, we built several buildings in Boca, along NW 2nd Avenue. Married in '72, to Linda Kathleen Finnell (Venezuela and Atlantis, FL, Howey Academy, '65) and started a Condo project in Vero Beach '73, lost my butt by '75. Linda was a nurse (PBJC, '71) so we had an income and I went into general Real Estate sales and did well, was living in Jupiter then. Dad died in '78, and like most son's, I had no idea how big a hole that would leave in my life. Moved to Stuart in '81, took over running a branch office for Bay Harbor Real Estate. Was hired by Bob DeSantis as a manager in '83 and stayed there until Linda died in the August of '85. With 3 kids, son Scott only 6 months old, I started to try to get cash flowing from investments and stop working 80 hours a week. Largely successful. Lost my sister in '87 and Mom in '88, not a great decade, except for Reagan. Remarried to Judith Lynn Denney, Martin County High,'65, in June of '89, that improved things. In '88, I was President of the Realtors Association of Martin County, an honor I greatly appreciated after working my way up the chairs. I still have a building in Boca and Judy and I have a home in Indian River County near Fellsmere. The kids (between us there are 5, 4 married and ((as of May, 2010)) 5 grandkids) are scattered (Stuart, Ft. Pierce, Vero Beach, Santa Rosa Beach and Tu...Expand for more
cson, AZ)and we have 4 dogs, 2 cats, 4 sheep and a duck for company. Judy is a Legal Assistant, retiring in May, 2010. I still manage the tenants and do a little commercial/acreage real estate. My goal for this year is to sell out to an LLC my kids own and really (well, sort of) retire. In 2004 we bought 9 acres in TN, near Gatlinburg, and we are building rental cabins near the Smokey Mtn National Park. The plan is to build a home there as well and spend winters traveling or in FL in our 5th wheel, while we can still hobble about and enjoy a martini at sundown. Let me know if you want to visit. Had a lot of fun along the way. Was State Chairman for Ducks Unlimited (they have a website I can't post, but you can find, ducksdotorg, if you aren't familiar) in 2000/2002 and really enjoy my duck hunting, although I don't get around the marsh as fast as I used to. I visit Red Bluff Lodge in Allendale, SC for a few days every year to collect a few deer for the freezer and the TN squirrels fear me! In '97 I started Riders of the Lost Empire, LC for folks who ride British Motorcycles (Triumph, BSA, Norton, etc.) and I currently own a '65 Norton Atlas and two Triumphs, a '79 T140 and an '03 Tiger. We have a rallye, Lost in the Smokies, every year (See Facebook) and have made several cross country trips and a safari to Northern Ireland to see a road race, the NW 200, in 2007 with the club. The next trip is to Scotland, soon I hope. Both of us are in good health, we smile a lot and enjoy the grand-babies. Now, tell me about YOU...
