Andrew's Story
Life
I am single, and was married for 20yrs in Oct. 2012, and have 2 girls, Kaitlyn 18yrs old and Emilie 13 1/2 yrs old. We have a Dachshund named Daisy. I have been a commercial truck driver since 1994, 6yrs with 7-up/Dr. Pepper (Chicago), and currently an over-the-road delivery driver, new driver/trainer, and Road Auditor with Maines Paper & Food Service (Chicago). I held a CDL Instructors License with the Illinois Sec. of State for 5yrs and am currently "retired" from that. I still follow the Chicago Blackhawks, and was a Season Ticket holder for 13 years (1987-2000). I've been a part-time staff member with the Athletic Dept. at Robert Morris University-Illinois in Chicago since 2000. I am the "Off-Ice" Official, P.A. Announcer, National Anthem singer, and Director of Game Day Hockey Operations for RMU's Ice Hockey Teams. Our teams play at The EDGE Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL. In 2002, we qualified for the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 2 National Tournament in New York City. In 2005, 2010, & 2013 RMU-IL hosted the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Tournament, and in 2008 hosted the ACHA Women's Division 1 & 2 National Tournaments. Since 2004, I've been selected for various off-ice hockey duties of the Central States Collegiate Hockey League All-Star Games, and League Playoffs, as well as other ACHA Men's Div. 1 National Tournaments. I am also the P.A. Announcer for RMU-IL's Baseball & Football programs. I'm a member of NASPAA (National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers) & have had the opportunity of a lifetime to be the P.A. events. I've also sung in a Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.) Barbershop Quartet for 25yrs and had the opportunity to sing at the 20th running of the prestigious Arlington Million thoroughbred horse race in the summer of 2002. I do frequent National Anthem duty for the Windy City ThunderBolts and Schaumburg Boomers minor league baseball teams of the independent Frontier League. I participate in the Music Ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Elgin, IL.
Workplace
I am an "over-the-road" Class "A" CDL driver/trainer, and route auditor for the Maines Paper & Food Service Distribution Center in Chicago (Hanover Park), IL., servicing Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, and The Capital Grille), Brinker Restaurants (Chili's and On The Border) Applebee's Restaurants, Houlihan's Restaurants, and Wendy's Restaurants in the greater Midwest. I "retired" in 2002 as a licensed CDL Class-A Instructor for the State of Illinois Secretary of State office after a 5-year stint. In 2008, I achieved a #13 ranking in the IFDA National Truck Driving Championships as the top rookie qualifier that year.
I enjoy being involved with the Robert Morris University-Illinois (Chicago) Division 1 Men's Hockey Team since 2000 as the P.A. Announcer, "Off-Ice" Official, Soloist (Nat'l Anthem Singer), and Director of Game Day Hockey Operations. In 2010, I was named as the Public Address Announcer for RMU-IL Baseball, and in 2011, was named as Public Address Announcer for RMU-IL Football. In 2013, I was inducted into the Robert Morris University Hall-of-Fame as a member of the 2002 Hockey Team as a Staff member.
