Andy's Story
Life
After my junior year at Carolina (1987), I moved to NYC to intern with SPIN Magazine. Then after that summer and fall, I moved to San Francisco to see the West Coast. What an amazing time in my life - but I was only 21 - and truly wanted to see what else there was beyond North Carolina. And what a world lied beyond...
I returned to Chapel Hill in 1990 to finish my senior year and did so. I got my BA in Journalism/Advertising. I stuck around for a couple more years and worked at Georgio's and Pyewacket, trying to figure out what to do next. I began to travel to Mexico with a charity group, teaching English, art, math and science - basically just spending time with some incredible kids. After 2 summers in Mexico, my eyes were opened to the rewards of traveling and experiencing other cultures.
In 1994, I moved to Atlanta and have been here since. I began working as a Caribbean travel specialist and was able to travel to almost all of the beautiful islands in the Caribbean. After 8 years, I moved into the recruiting world for the ad industry to nurture a more serious pursuit - my degree, after all. I left there last year (2005.)

e, for the past 10 years or so, I have been teaching fitness classes, such as yoga, spinning and weight training. I am beginning to move toward a more full-time career in that area, I think. I really have a knack for teaching and love the connection you get from sharing with other people.
I live in an old Victorian house built in 1910 in Candler Park/Little 5 Points in Atlanta. My partner, Dave, and I have been together for 3 years, although we were friends for the previous 10! It only proves the old adage that your lover has to be your friend, too.
I have a crazy cat named Growler, because she has no meow, just a scratchy, Lauren Bacall-esque "growl."
I have a beautiful nephew, Carter, just 2 years old. And I have a niece on the way.
My hobbies/interests at the ripe ol' age of 40 are yoga, cycling, snorkeling, traveling, live music, wine, good food and cooking, indie films and art. I'm a news junkie, too.
I would love to hear from some of my former classmates, especially those who might be in the Atlanta area. Be in touch. We have a lot to catch up on!
Oh, and by the way, I have gone by the name of Drew since college. Give it a try!
