Andy's Story
Ahhh - my story.
I drove to the U every day for four years and graduated with a BS in Business degree - had no idea of what I wanted to do.My older brother Jeff was in the Army and wasn't having a good time, and I ended up in the lottery.... and didn't go to 'Nam. By that time, I was a Scoutmaster at my old troop at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (across from RHS) and went to work for the Boy Scouts. Stayed 15 years and loved every minute of it - stressful that it was. Meetings morning, noon, night - and worked most weekends. It was a 24/7 job!
Got married at age 33 and my wife, Cathy, worked for Western Air Lines - so we traveled a bit. Loved Hawaii and still is my favorite place.
When WAL changed during deregulation (remember Republic Air Lines?), we decided to move and chose Seattle. I went to work for the BSA there, and Cath...Expand for more
y's firm was bought by Delta Air Lines. After a couple years of that, it was time to start my own business. Cathy kept her job, of course, and we both worked at Sir Speedy Printing in Kent, WA (we live in Kent - a suburb south of Seattle). After 20 years in the printing business, we sold in 2006. I worked for the new owner for a year and then retired. We travel to warmer climes (Puerto Vallarta in the fall, Hawaii in January, Arizona in spring) and love the west coast. Need more road trips... and having fun.
No kids - most of the family is back in Minnesota. I get back every August (hot and humid....) for a Lake Waverly reunion (we have a cabin there... spent my summers a the lake) and also in the fall for a Wangstad Brothers fishing trip to the Scout camp at Park Rapids. We've been doing that since 1978 without missing a year.
