Angela's Story
Life
Angela Rose is an activist, artist, and freelance journalist who is based out of Chicago. She created her business, Desert Rose Promotions, in the summer of 2004 (though it had been culminating for several years). She has been going to music shows all of her life, though her music taste has morphed over the years to embrace an eclectic mixture. As a musician herself, Angela appreciates many genres of music and fusion of sounds. Living by the saying ÂDance as though Nobody is WatchingÂ, she judges bands by how they make her move as the music flows through her at live shows. She started interviewing musicians a few years ago and was delighted to find their openness and candidness with her.
Since 2001, Angela has been organizing concert fundraisers and festivals for the nonprofit organization PAVE (Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment) as well as other nonprofit groups. Angela founded PAVE, which is a...Expand for more
multi-chapter organization that uses social, educational, and legislative aspects to shatter the silence of sexual violence. They are in the midst of organizing Rally Against Rape in Washington DC for April 2006, which will feature music, speakers, and spoken word. As an outspoken survivor of an abduction and assault, Angela has traveled the country spreading her message of empowerment and education. She is signed to a respected national speakerÂs bureau in NYC, SoapBox, inc.
In 2002, Angela served a 2 year term as the state president of the WI chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW). As an undergraduate at the University of WI-Madison, she worked as the Women's Issues Diversity Liaison as well as photographing sports, graduations, and other events for Empire Photography where she later became the Marketing Director.
She currently is booked nationwide for motivational speaking engagements.
