Angela's Story

Life I married a Jarhead twelve years ago...we have three gorgeous children. Joey is 11, Marc-Anthony is 6 and Emily is almost 2 1/2. Anthony and I are currently residing in Colorado Springs at Ft Carson, Colorado. He got out of the Marines, became a commercial diver for several years then right before 9/11, he enlisted in the Army. He just got home from an 11 month tour in Iraq. I am now a chef and working on getting my pastry cook certification. However, my career is on hold so that I may devote my time to my children. Being a chef requires more of my time than I am willing to take away from my children. We are currently under orders to go to Baumholder, Germany. Once we get settled in, we will be taking leave and going to Sicily to introduce the children to their aunts, uncles and cousins living in Paterno. (My husband is Sicilian and most of his family on his father's side still live in Sicily. Good thing I speak Sicilian..right?) Anyhow, not much of an exciting life for a former party girl...I have become rather domesticated. Cooking, sewing dresses for my daughter, volunteering with the Army wives, Tee-ball coach..ya know..even driving a mini van. Long way from the little Alpha Romeo..but hey..as long as the DVD player works on road trips..I dont care. I also have taken up karate..Shao Lin Kempo...to pass time while my hubby was deployed. I have competed in one tourny so far and won third place out of 200 competitors in the women's ...Expand for more
sparring division. In about 3 weeks, provided I get the invitation from Sensei, I will have earned my blue belt. I should have taken karate a long time ago, would have made those bar fights alot more fun. (*now a high blue, going for green belt next month and competed in the state games here in the Springs in Aug 04.... qualified to go to the Nationals that are being held here in Julu 05. I have been earning a rep as an aggressive fighter and have had a pro boxing coach approach me to switch from martial arts to boxing. Nah..I like to kick in the head too much. Note on the state games...I had to fight in the men's division...sucked...I lost to a sasquatch who was six foot four..remember..I am only five two. Anyhow...I jammed him up and he kept retreating from me. I ended up with a hairline fracture on my foot from kicking him. I at least, did better than alot of the other men who went against him and were higher ranked than me. Been kicking around the idea of goin pro...maybe..not sure...age is creepin up on me.) I hope that if anyone of you who reads this is someone that I hurt or wronged in any way, shape or fashion, please accept my most sincere and heartfelt apology. I wasn't always the nicest person. Pamela and Kenny Rieves...should either of you read this....please contact me....Anthony and I had been thinking about you. He is in Iraq again (March 05 to March 06) but he mentioned maybe saying hello and catching up when he gets back.
