Angela's Story
A warm hello to anyone who has wondered where my life has taken me. First of all, that is me hugging a less than 24 hour born baby goat last year. I take the pictures, I'm usually never in them.
This is hard for me, because for 32 years I had the most incredible family. A few of you knew Jim, but we didn't start dating until after we all graduated. He was a JFK graduate, and we met at Como Mall. We married on 9/11/1976. Which 25 years later was the day of the attack by Bin Laden on our country. Nice silver anniversary present.
With the economy going south in Buffalo, it was only a matter of time before we would have to relocate. Jim was the production manager at Gioia Pasta, but they were sold to Borden who then decided to close the plant down. Soon after, he was offered a job at a new pasta plant being built in Kansas City by a different company. We decided to make the move.
It has had it's good and bad points, and for those of you who are actually interested in them, drop me a note and I will expound. The main, horrible thing is that on our 30th anniversary, Jim was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. They were never able to determine it it was lung or kidney, (BTW, he never smoked) but never the less. He died six weeks...Expand for more
later.
If you have never lived through that kind of loss, you are very fortunate. For me, it made my world spin in a very horrible way. But I am a strong person, and I worked my way through it, at least financially, and tried to pick up the pieces of my life.
Up to this point, I haven't mentioned my 2 wonderful sons who helped me and them deal with our grief. Casey was 23 when his dad died, newly graduated from college and trying to make a name for himself as a musician. He was a great guitarist, and had started playing professional gigs. And my amazing Colin... He was only 14 when his dad died, and had to now deal with a crazed mother who wasn't sure how we were going to all go on.
We picked up our pieces, and actually moved on. Until New Year's Eve, 2008. Casey had been having pain problems, and to make a very long story short, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died 14 months later at the age of 26.
So, if anyone wants to continue this conversation, please do so!. I am actually mentally very solid, and do enjoy life even after my losses. I know Jim and Casey would want me and Colin to do the same. And my Colin is such a success story......
Please write me back. I enjoy hearing about the good old days.
