Angela's Story
Life
Graduated UTC in 1982 with a degree to teach Art. Married Bill McGhee of Red Bank in 1982. Daughter Bonnie born in 1986. I still ride horses...more than ever actually. Began competing in Endurance Racing in 1987. Everybody thought having more kids would stop me but Josie was born in 1990 and then I really got involved. I've ridden over 4000 miles in competition and was a member of the gold medal squad in the 2001 Pan Ams 100 mile race.
In 1990 I started writing humor articles for Trail Blazer magazine and soon got my own monthly section. I also write regularly for the Chronicle of the Horse and Endurance News. That led to some invitations to speak at Conventions. I've been sort of a stand up comic/humorist in Reno, Tulsa, and this year in Portland, OR. Kind of funny that the kind of behavior that used to get me in trouble now makes a little money. :-)
Until 5 years ago I was officially unemployed so I could stay home with my daughters. During that time I bought & sold horses, raised dogs, ...Expand for more
wrote for magazines, and did free lance Art. 5 years ago I got a job teaching Art at Lookout Valley High and love it. I didn't want to teach when I first got out of college but right now I couldn't be happier about it. I find it a little funny to teach with another teacher who has given me an F in conduct before though. >g< (Ms. Collins) My daughters were both already attending LV so it's been cool to have them in my class and be able to be in on all their school happenings. Bonnie graduated last year, and was voted Miss Lookout Valley...not quite what you'd expect from me. Josie will graduate in 2008. She is also a horse person with 1000 miles of endurance competition. She was the top junior in the southeast region when she was 11. Josie the only freshman on the varsity basketball team coached by Joe Galloway. When I tell them I was on the first team he ever coached they think I'm ANCIENT! I teach a lot of my old classmate's kids, but I do my best not to tell them what ya'll were *really* like. :-)
