Angela's Story
Hello to all of my classmates. Time goes so fast and it is fun to read the stories of various classmates.
After high school I continued on to study physics and now work in the lab doing fundamental physics experiments. During college I tore a ligament in my knee and started riding a bicycle for therapy. That quickly lead to racing and in 1992 I qualified to compete in the Olympic Trials for women's sprint cycling. At 32 years old I was not a serious contender but it sure was fun to qualify and compete.
In the early 90's my husband and I learned to fly airplanes and flew competition aerobatics for a number of years. Somewhere in there we both began riding motorcycle trials. That soon expanded to include a couple of Ducatis for fun road rides.
I've always been an outdoor girl and still try to do things that get me outside although as I have aged I've tended to exchange rugged and sparten adventures for those with a more leisurely pace and that end with a hearty meal. The specific activities phase in a...Expand for more
nd out but they always seem to include my husband, my dogs and good friends. Some activities that have withstood the test of time have been: hiking/backpacking, whitewater kayaking, rock/ice climbing, skiing, flying airplanes, road and mountain bike riding, fishing, shooting, road and trials motorcycle riding and sailing.
For the past 15 years I have been a volunteer ski patroller. I have retrievers that I trained for avalanche, cadaver and wilderness area that I use in my volunteer work as a K9 search and rescue handler. I also enjoy running hunt tests and field trials with them.
I have a dream husband and we do everything together.
In 2007 I lost my oldest brother, Richard Niles, to lung cancer. He also went to Leigh and graduated in 1973. Some of you may remember him. It was a terrible loss and I think of him daily.
It has been an interesting road. Both sets of parents are still alive for which we are thankful and we have good strong families. I wish the best to everyone who reads this.
