Angela's Story
Life
I live in the beautiful Ozarks. I have two wonderful children. Their pictures are posted in my Photo Album. My son, Sean, works as a Meteorologist the National Weather Network in Ontario Canada. My daughter, Kendra, is a freshman in college at the University of Central AR. She plans to major in Environmental Science. My husband works as Director of Safety for a Rural Electric Company. I finished college with an MBA and am President/CEO of two community hospitals in Arkansas. One the Community Medical Center in Calico Rock and the other Fulton Conty Hospital in Salem. We have a small houseboat (or cottage boat) and several lake toys so we spend as much time as possible on Lake Norfork. In the "over the hill" picture - my daughter Kendra helping me celebrate my 50th birthday. No point lying to you guys - you know how old I am.
School
I enjoyed my time at EAWRCHS. I made lasting friends, but only keep in contact with a few. My best friend from high school (Janet Hess) was killed in a car accident at a young age. If I could go back and do any of it over - not much. Maybe . . . . well lets just leave it at maybe. lol
College
Immediately after high school, I attended LCCC where I wanted to major in pre-law. However, the closest I could get was an Associates degree to be a Legal Secretay. After LCCC graduation I went to Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH. It was a great college and a...Expand for more
wonderful education. During that time my parents retired in the Ozarks. Upon graduation I went to live in the Ozarks - got married and began my family. I returned to college and attended Missouri State University and completed my MBA. Working on my MBA, raising a family and working a demanding job was tough but worthwhile. The MBA program was very difficult. 25 started out in our group and only 5 graduated. I still plan on getting my PhD. . . but when I am not running 2 hospitals.
Work:
After college I took a position as Director of I.T. for a wholesale hardware company. (9 yrs) I loved I.T. but in the Ozarks you mutate to where the jobs are. I returned to my financial roots and took a job as Chief Cost Accountant for a shirt mfg. that was NY based with operations in AR. I traveled often to Jamaica and NY and loved it. But due to the passing of NAFTA and the increase in trade in Mexico, they began to require our mgt. to spend 3 mos. a year in Mexico. I left and incorporated my own Acctg/Consulting Business. Then in 1997 a hospital in MO approached me for an analyst position, which I took. I went back to college, completed my MBA and worked as Director of Finance he hospital for almost 10 years. I am now CEO of two community based hosspitals located in beautiful Calico Rock and Salem Arkansas. I love it but t is never boring.
