Angelita's Story
Hello,
I graduated from San Marcos HS in 1971. After graduation I worked in San Marcos at the Brown Schools for 5 years then married and had 2 wonderful kids. They are all grown up now, I have two grandchildren. I have Jasmin who is 10 years old and Malik who is 21. He will be joining the Airforce this coming June 2013. I am divorced at present and returned to San Antonio, TX. I was a member of the Marion County Sheriffs Search and Rescue Unit in Ocala, Florida which kept me busy. I lived on a 3 acre mini farm and had two horses . I have moved to San Antonio, Tx. to start a new life. I brought my two horses to Texas then had to sell them due to not finding a good stable for them. Happy to be back in Texas.
My career was in Medical Office Management. Worked up from a receptionist, to Medical Billing and all the way up to an administrator of 48 doctors and staff of 200 employees.(25 yrs.). I also did a lot of traveling because my X was military (Air Force). I had the opportunity to travel to Okinawa, Japan (4 years), visit Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, Hawaii, Germany, The Netherlands and many states in the United States. so gifted to have been all over the world with us. We were able to learn a lot of history and be there to view battle grounds and cemeteries.
I was a Red Cross Dental Assist. in Okinawa. I also worked with the USO as a volunteer in Okinawa, put together a Christmas Celebration at Camp Hansen for about 5,000 Marines who had just come back from the field and surprised them with 50 free calls to the states and other donated gifts, I learned to fly a Piper Warrior plane by myself. Volunteering my time with the USO I met the crew of Happy Days, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Hope, Ms. Georgia, John Travolta, Foster Brooks and many more celebrates.
In 1991 I was diagnosed with cancer of the left breast and underwent reconstructive surgery to remove the cancer. I was lucky that it was in the early stage. I am proud to say that I have been cancer free since then. Oh! never lost my hair. :) I try to support any Cancer Fundraising Organization by walking, running or just taking the time to volunteer at the events.
I hope to hear from my classmates and get together at our next class reunion. I hope we have one soon. Updated 01/31/2014.
