Angie's Story

Life Happily married since to 2000 to my husband Don, I am doing more in my life than I ever thought possible! I am a mom and a step-mom to my husbands' three children from his first marriage,so it has been both a blessing and a challenge to have a kindergartner and two now adult guys(so weird that my 2 boys are now men!)living under one roof. My stepdaughter lives with her mom,but she is deep in the throes of teen land so every other weekend can get interesting! My daughter Bethie is what we call Mini-Me. She is a duplicate of me in my attitude and way of doing things, and I think she was born already 40 years old and a hippie. Smart, just lost her first tooth, and is ready to be the next American Idol. Bethie mirrors my dad Dave alot too, and they were very close and very much co-conspiritors on many things lol. And yes, Bethie DOES have a beauty mark on her face, same side as Mommy only hers slipped down a bit and is over her lip ala Cindy Crawford. We may or may not add one more to our family, my career is kicking in high gear right now and having two of the four grown up and going out on their own is held in deep consideraton. My husband is also 10 years older than me and at 42, not really sure he can get back into the "diaper groove".With deep sadness, I hate posting this part, but to my friends, 'George' was a character to know and love, and he meant alot to many of you. On November 3rd, 2004, my Dad and very best friend died in Hospice of Cincinnati. He was ill with a simple cold that suddenly lead to total organ failure and his death was rather sudden, as we expected him to recover as he always had. After almost a month in the hospital, I made the choice and honored his wishes to remove all support and transfer him to Hospice. It was the hardest and most powerful decision I have ever made, and it broke my heart in two. I can say that in the 6 days he was in Hospice, he was treated no less than a king would be, and he fought like the tiger he was t...Expand for more
o get well, but his health simply had been too poor the last few years to obey his will. He survived 5 strokes, each worse than the last but always fighting to still be as much of who he was as he could. Bethie had alot to do with bringing him back from the last 3 strokes, and she learned to walk watching him relearn to walk. I am so happy that she took her first steps to him as he sat on his couch, and beamed when Papaw picked her up and walked her back over to me. I stayed by his side the entire time and was blessed to be holding him when he died. He was trying so hard not to let go and as I held him, I felt him relax and know that I am strong and I can survive this. I have had a mighty struggle to learn how to live life without my Dad but I am grateful that he is at peace and has no more pain. To any of my friends that were lucky enough to know him, my Dad had a special message for you all before he died. He wished you all love, happiness, and success and he was glad to know everyone. He thanked Denise for her fun loving nature, Andy his skateboarder coolness, Kendra her deep and passionate way of doing things and Tony for his humor and love. Scotty reminded him of his love of a Harley. An unexpected result of my Dad's death is that I have been reunited with my older brother Donny, and we are close after 20 years. I have two great nephews by way of my big brother and the oldest is exactly like my brother was as a kid, so talk about deja vu! My mother and I have become much closer and talk every day. I think my Dad is guiding us on this one, for we are so different but it seems to be finally working after all these years. I credit Mom, Donny, and my wonderful soulmate husband Don with getting me through the initial pain and helping me see that Dad the person is gone but his enormous love has stayed here. I hope that each person who reads this has had a fulfilling, peaceful life since we all went our separate ways 14 years ago. Merry part and Blessed Be-AMLH
