Angie's Story
My family moved to the Southwest right after I graduated in '78. Yea, no snow! I always wanted a horse, and it was nothing to have one out here so I spent the first year riding along the Rio Grande! I went to NMSU in '79 and did the sorority route as I majored in Criminal Justice. That was a little different, not many sorority girls did CJ, and at the time CSI wasn't "in" but did I have a lot of fun after school! I worked in the CJ field for 6 years; during this time I decided dogs were cheaper than horses, and started training dogs as a hobby. e easier to train than people, and 20 years later its been filled with lots of love, two kids, (my son is now in the Navy, and my daughter is in High School) and many, many dogs! I don't miss the snow one bit, and I constantly call my cousin in Schaumburg and gloat that I'm walking aroung in T-shirts and shorts while she's knee deep in snow. I'm no longer the size one I used to be, I gained a couple of sizes along the way, but because we train alot of dogs, (german shepherds are our specialty) I've stayed pretty fit. My family is pretty spread out, which makes it nice to visit. Sam stayed in Il., Peggy's in San Diego, Vick's in Dallas and my little brother Phil is now in Denver. My dad passed on and my mom lives just an hour away in NM. I've come a long way since Elgin, but I look back at that time with fond memories-and it keeps me one step ahead of my kids, they don't get away with a tenth of the things that I did!
