Anita's Story

Life Except for one year (Easter of my sophomore year to Easter of my junior year) I attended school in 29 Palms from my kindergarten year through my senior year. There are several people that I knew for that entire time. I think that is why I feel a bond to them and like to have reunions. It is interesting and surprising to see the different paths that people have chosen. Right after high school, I attended the Los Angeles College of Medical and Dental Assistants in Long Beach. I married a Marine that I had met in 29 Palms and while we were stationed there, I worked in a doctor's office. Then we moved to Alhambra so he could enter the Sheriff"s Academy. I attended East Los Angeles Junior College and Cal State L.A. I studied Child Development and got a B.A. in Home Economics. Then I decided I'd rather be a nurse. I took the prerequisites and entered nursing school at Cal State L.A. I worked as a nurse's aide while I attended school. I got my RN License in 1981 but had health problems which prevented me ...Expand for more
from working in that field. Along the way, I had a daughter, got divorced and remarried. I moved to Covina, CA. I was a stay-at-home mother for awhile. Then I got restless. I took a library technician's course at Citrus College in Glendora. I worked at Citrus College as a library technician. Then San Jose State University began a pilot program on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. I attended there and got my Masters of Library Science in 1991. I stayed at Citrus College in the position of reference librarian for about 6 years. I took a few years off and then began working at Arcadia Public Library as a reference librarian. I retired in 2014. My daughter is married and I have 2 grandsons, Max (11)and Donovan (9). They live across the street from me so I am able to be active in their lives and enjoy them. For many years we had a motor home and have traveled throughout the United States and British Columbia. I have three dachshunds. My hobbies have included scrap-booking, photography, and jewelry making.
