More about Anita:"Founded, developed and ran a successful executive search firm for 25 years serving high tech industry, consulting and government and provided executive outplacement services in the Washington, DC area.
Prior to living in the Washington, D.C. area I grew up in Paterson, NJ and lived and taught social sciences for 7 years in northern NJ. Took time to travel and see the world when it was still fun to fly. I still love working with students and enjoy tutoring them. Married Richard Fishkin an attorney and litigator. I moved to the DC area when my husband, Richard went to work with for the Dept. of Justice in 1973. These were exciting times in Washington. The Watergate hearings were on going. Got to witness the hearings first hand and the somewhat tilted and biased testimony of John Mitchell and others and the daily stories and secrets that would emerge about the Nixon administration.
Unfortunately Richard and I later divorced. I was working as an executive headhunter and a consultant in Washington, DC.
I later remarried Paul Kallfelz . We had one son together, Colin. I have one step son, Chris and a daughter-in-law Melissa, a middle school...Expand for more
teacher.
Colin was a warm hearted, popular and dynamic individual. He was killed in a car crash in January, 2003 when he was only 20 yrs old. It is the kind of tragedy that makes you question the very meaning of life and knocks you off your feet for a very long time. We know the world moves on, but we are still trying to cope with his loss on a day by day basis. Some of Colin's friends still stay in touch with us. We are apart of their lives and it means a great deal to us.
I am involved in politics and worked on the local Congressional campaign of John Delaney. He was elected to represent the 6th district of Maryland in US House of Representatives. We ousted an ultra right wing tea party member who was still living in the 19th century. Yeah! Very satisfying work.
I have a strong love of gardening and landscaping. Find it very relaxing to sit by the pond, listen to the falls and music and play with the dog. Also enjoy photography.
I have a brother Harvey Grodjesk and a wonderful sister-in-law Ellen.
Harvey runs operations for a chemical co.in Houston, TX and Ellen is an EA to former president of Rice University. They were critical in helping me get through Colin's loss and come out stable at the other end.
The four of us took care of my ailing mother Sarah, who had been a very independent dynamic woman. She lived alone till she was 92 and then moved in with Paul and I till the end when she passed in 2009 at 94.
I am also interested in animal rescue.".
