Anita's Story
Updated 03/12/11....it's been almost 2 years since my last major Classmates edit....and one of the biggest "events" that has transpired in that time was...my 60th birthday! YIKES!! My son (that's him in the party pic with me) and most marvelous Grandboy threw me a very memorable 60th b-day bash in Florida this past December (2010).
The rest of "the story" remains the same....after being a widow for 10 years - I remarried in May of '06 just after my freshman year in college. Yes, that's right... I went back to school as a 55 yr. old freshman - a very humbling experience! My husband, Tom, is a dear Christian man, a widower, who was married for 34 years!! to his first wife. Tom and I met through a Christian Singles website!!!! (ask me - I'll tell you more) while I was still attending school. At first glance (outside of our relationship with the Lord) the biggest thing he and I had in common was that we were both born and raised in Illinois.....only I had the good sense to move to warmer climates and stay there for mostly 20 years....and he is still here. Here, being Davis, Il. a small farming community about 30 miles northwest of Rockford - though for most of his life Tom was a "big city" (Chicago) boy.
My son will celebrate his 40th birthday this year! YIKES!! and my baby girl will turn 33.! Both remain in Florida. As does my most marvelous grandson - who is almo...Expand for more
st 7 yrs. old. Anyway - it gives Tom and I a good excuse to escape the winter (especially this last one!!) and be "snow birds" for a short time - which is another thing I said I would never do!!! (be a snow bird) ..ah well.
My husband, Tom, also has a daughter and son who live here in Illinois and a most marvelous Grandboy too, Gabe, turning 12 this year.
Since moving back to Illinois...I have been teaching again - Music/Drama and Speech (PRESCHOOL!! through 8th grade - YIKES!!) at a Christian School in Freeport, Il. Freeport was the site of the famous Lincoln/Douglas debates - held even before WE were born!!
I still direct and write ...mostly for children now...and mostly for my school and church. I came out of "director retirement" long enough to direct, "The King and I" for Pec Playhouse in July of '09. This past year (2010) the Playhouse has initiated a Middle School acting troupe, DramaRama, where I am happily the oldest "kid" in charge!
In addition to our much LOVED GRANDBOYS - I truly LOVE being a 3rd-5th grade boys (YIKES!) Sunday School teacher. Yah....I know....go figure.
And so...in a nutshell that pretty much sums up the last 2 yrs. of my life. At 60!! I still consider myself to be a work "in progress". How about you??
I'd enjoy hearing from any Naperville Community classmates.
I think of many of you often!
God bless you one and all!!
