Anita's Story
Got married in 1973 and moved to NC. Went to WPPC for Business courses. Worked for NC State until kids came along. Moved to Charleston, SC in 1977 for work reasons. Moved back to Pickens Co. SC for about 2 years, (1981-1983) but came back to NC. We lived in Boone, NC until 1992. We returned to Valdese in 1992 to care for Mark's parents. Most of my family live in Aiken or Easley SC. My husband's family live in NC. We have been married for 35 years, and have two children. A boy, and girl. They are both married, each with one child. Our daughter lives in Aiken, SC, (near my younger brother) and our son lives near us in NC. My husband has always been in the building field, and for about 10 years now has been a home inspector. I work with him in the office, and help with paperwork. I started working with him when our kids started school. We also buy homes, fix them up and sell them. So we stay very busy. His is also a minister, and we have both been active for the past 10 years helping in the spanish community here. Went back to WPPC in 1998 to take spanish classes. panish, and have traveled to several spanish speaking countries. We are leaving in a few months to visit some friends in Nicaragua. We love being grandparents, and spend what spare time we have with them. The most important thing to both of us is family. Life is good. I also help care for my mother in law, who is 86 years old. She lives next door to us. That is about it for the last 35 years. My son is also following in his father and grandfather's footsteps as a contractor. He built his own house last year, and at the present, works for a development company. He and his wife are also avid cyclists, and both race; my daughter-in-law, rides for a pro women's team and came in fourth at the nationals last year. They travel to races all over the place. My daughter and her husband work and live in Aiken, SC. My daughter is an interpretor for the deaf, and is also working for her degree in early childhood education. Right now, she is having fun with her two year old. what the future brings we only have to wait and see...Looking forward to slowing down in the work department and traveling more.
