Anita's Story
Life
I live in Sister Bay, a village in Door County , Wisconsin, which has changed from a rural area to a retirement and cultural community. Art and music have been my interests and am now writing poetry with a very active group of poets. Worked for 21 years in our school district as the audio-visual person in the Instructional Media Center (library). My husband of 53 years suffered a massive stroke in 1992 and I was his sole caregiver for 12 years. He is now in the care center of the retirement center where I live. Two of our girls live in the Milwaukee area and one in Green Bay. We have three grandaughters. My sister June lives in Fish Creek but all the rest of my family moved to Florida as time went by. ad many) and local baseball. Now I just watch the Packers on TV. I drive a Ford Escape, and crowded into my one bedroom, small apartment is this computer and a Technics keyboard in place of my piano, I'm a kid here, living with people from the Greatest Generation. These are independent apartments and we have at least 12 persons in their 90s who still have all their marbles. One 96 year old man was in the Manhattan Project, inventing the A-bomb. We had to sell our home and move here because I couldn't be a caregiver and take care of the house and yard all at once any more. It's a great time here and I've made lots of new (old) friends.
