Ann's Story

Well, let's see. After high school I attended NCSU for a short time and decided I wanted to learn a trade and get into the workforce, faster. Patty Jo Walker & I went to a year of Medical Lab School together and that's pretty much the area of work I have stayed in. I met my husband, Chuck, which was a music fraternity brother of Karen Edmisten. He sang in Glee Club at NCSU and Karen was in marching band. I worked at Rex Hospital in Raleigh a couple of years (3rd shift) and then an OB-GYN office. Got into medical sales and distribution at Fisher Scientific in Raleigh.Had my daughter, Amanda in Raleigh in 1981 and in 1985 Chuck got a promotion and transfer with his job to Jacksonville,FL. I worked part-time at a Dr's office and in 1988 we had a son, Brandon.I worked part-time and then full time at Mayo Clinic as the kids grew up.Both children played soccer here in sunny Florida and Amanda ended up going to Flagler College in St. Augustine on soccer scholarship and met her future husband,Mark,a British soccer player at Flagler on men's soccer team. Brandon tore his MCL and ACL and had surgery his Jr. year in high school. He was not able to continue to play soccer. He is now ...Expand for more
a Jr. at UCF majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Chuck & I have changed jobs a couple of times, but both have been with our current jobs for 6 years. I am Clinical Information Specialist with PSS World Medical at their Corporate Office in Jacksonville. I enjoy speaking with our salesreps all over the United States. I have my favorites from N.C. Chuck & I enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren in Orlando. We are also very active in our church and have met many great friends. We also are on a bowling league our neighborhood has had for over 20 years. I have not gotten any better over the years, but it's good fun. If you ever need a place to stay in Orlando, our daughter and son-in-law own a Vacation Home Mgt. business. Their website is closesttodisney.com or Palm Tree Vacation Homes. Say you know Ann and they will take care of you. Oh,if ya'll remember my mom, she lives with us every 3 months. My sister, Nonie and I swap her out. My sister Sue, 1969 graduate of Aurora, died suddenly in 2001 at the age of 50. We miss her very much. Looking forward to the reunion and some good old pig picking. I have to say barbeque is one of the things I miss most about N.C.
