Ann's Story

Life 11/21/15 The past year has been very sressful....the wonderful man I med in 2013 dumped me in September, 2014. I'm currently living in Marietta, GA, just waiting to retire at the end of this school year.. Wanted to retire at the end of the 2014-2015 school year but circumstances made it impossible. 6 more months and I will have 31 years experience and will be leaving the educational field. My plans are to move to Gulf Shores, AL, and start a new chapter in my life. Both of my parents are still alive and will be celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary in December. Both of the grandkids are still doing well. Andrew is in an awesome Autism class at the middle school and McKenzie is in 3rd grade this year. 9/16/14 Just started my 30th year of teaching. Hoping to be able to retire at the end of this school year. Both sons are doing well and my Grands are in 2nd & 5th grades this year. They are growing up way to fast. 4/29/14 Time passes by way too fast............It seems like yesterday that Jim passed away (2011) and I was starting over with my life (2012). I met a wonderful man in January of 2013. He had just recently moved to Georgia from Yonkers, New York to be closer to his grown kids. We are still together. He is retired and I'm about ready to retire. Just finished my 25th year teaching in Georgia and will be completing my 29th year total at the end of this school year. My grandkids are growing up way too fast. They are getting ready to finish 4th & 1st grades. If you are from the class of 1974, whether you graduated with us or not, we would love to hear from you. I'm getting together a list of names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mails for all of those that went to school with us. Look me up on Facebook and let's connect. Looking forward to hearing from one and all. 10/23/12 It's been 6 months since I've posted on this site. Life goes on. Went to the classes of 1972 & 1973 reunions in August. It was great to be able to see classmates that I haven't seen in 39+ years. Had a good time at both of the get together's. I've started getting out there again and trying to meet men to date. It's really hard at this age to meet someone. I try to get out and live life to its fullest, as we never know when it will be cut short. Ann 4/29/12 A lot has happened in the past 2 years. Found out my grandson, Andrew, has Asperger's Syndrome. That is a high functioning form of Autism. Didn't get to go to Culebra, Puetro Rico. Fell on the dance floor a few days before leaving and compressed a vertebrae in my back. Ended up having to have kythoplasty done. In September, 2010, Jim had a stroke. In October, 2010, I broke my right foot. Was in a walking book for 6 weeks, cast and crutches for about 9 weeks, then back into a walking book again for about 6 more weeks. At the end of March, Jim went to the hospital for a severe foot infection. His heart enzymes were off, so he was admitted. Within a week, his kidneys started shutting down and was placed on dialysis. He was in the hospital for approximately 17 days. Came home for 5, then went back in again and was in there for 18 days. He had another stroke and was still on dialysis. He passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011. This last year has been a very trying year for me. Andrew went back to live with his Dad, when Jim went in the hospital. I went from a 3 person family to just me within a month's time. I really miss Andrew. Jim's death anniversary is coming up. It's time for me to get on with my life. 6/9/10 Can't believe it's been nearly a year since I posted. My gra...Expand for more
ndson, Andrew, has been living with us for over a year now. It is evident that he has Autism and we're in the process of trying to find out where he is on the spectrum. It has been a very trying year. My hats off to those that already know their child has autism and is dealing with it. I'm just glad that Jim and I are able to be there for him and his father, Kyle. Getting ready to take the grandkids to Orange Beach. Hope they will get to play in the sand. This oil spill is really a BIG mess. Then after that, I'll be leaving the end of the month for Culebra, Puerto Rico, for my summer vacation with some ladies I work with. Soooo looking forward to it. 7/21/09 Spent a week travelling this month. Went to Hershey, PA, for 4 days. Visited Hershey Park, Hershey Gardens and Museum. Had a blast. Then drove over to NYC and spent 3 nights there. Took in the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and of course Times Square and rode the Metro (subway). Driving in NYC was a trip also and parking is NOT cheap but we had a good time. 3/6/09 My how time flies.....This time last year I was subbing as a line dance instructor on Thursdays at Cowboys Atlanta. Then in May I started subbing every other week on Thursday and this went on through August when I started teaching every Thursday night and every other Saturday night. In December Leslie came back to Cowboys so I went to teaching every other Thursday and Saturday night. I've had a blast. Met a lot of new people, getting lots of exercise and having fun. If you're ever in the Atlanta area, come to see us in Kennesaw. Dance lessons are on Thursdays 7-8, free admission for the ladies and Saturdays 7-8. Until later..... Ann 11/23/08 My husband, Jim, has just recently gone through a triple by-pass surgery. He is diabetic and had a heart attack that he didn't even know he had. He went in for a heart cath on the 11/4/08 and his damage was so bad that the doctor wouldn't let him go home. The doctor had already called a surgeon and his surgery was scheduled for 11/6/08. It's 2 weeks post-op and he continues to heal and recover. 8/8/08 School just started back this past Thursday. Back to the grindstone for another school year. My Mom and Dad are still alive and kicking in the Alford's Bend area of Hokes Bluff. My sister, Lisa and her daughter Lauren live right behind them. My brother, Johnny, still lives in Hokes Bluff and my brother Ken lives in Southside on the river. My husband, Jim Eller, and I live in Cartersville, GA. I have 2 sons, Allen and Kyle Jones. Allen recently got married and is living with his wife, Heather, in Antioch, TN. Kyle and his wife, Brittany are now living 2 streets over with their 2 children: Andrew (4) and MacKenzie (18 mos.). I love spending time with my grandkids. Andrew is the apple of our eye and we get him just about every weekend. I just finished my 19th year at HCES and my 23rd year teaching. I had knee replacement surgery last June but I'm back to dancing again. The good thing, is after this one I will have 2 good knees again and can dance all I want! My husband is calling me the bionic woman. Who knew I would be this active at 52 . 6/21/08 Just got back from my Alaskan Cruise. It was wonderful. The scenery was awesome and the cruise was relaxing. Spent another week in Seattle with my friend, Sheryl. Visited Mt. Rainier which is an awesome site also. Was able to go dancing at three different Country/Western venues in the Seattle area. I would recommend going on the cruise to anyone. Where to next? Hmmmmm.......
