Ann's Story

Life Hi Everyone! I met Pete (lucky me!) in our last semester of school in 1981. We haven't left our hometown....yet! God has blessed us in our 40 years (36 married) together. We raised our 3 children, two sons and a daughter and feel that they turned out to be pretty wonderful adults. 🥰 We have had some hurts, especially the loss of my sister Sue to breast cancer in 2002, my father Gene to pancreatic cancer in 2007, my brother Travis's wife to melanoma, 2008, my mom to colon cancer, 2008. and Petes dad 2017. But we have had some really wonderful blessings! Our son's marriages gifted us with wonderful daughter in laws and best of all, 3 granddaughters who have stolen our hearts. Pete is even more wonderful than he was when we met and I wouldn't change much in our life. Walking through life with him has been everything I hoped it would be. I'm guessing this is cheating but MrsBur2L8 at a o l dot c o m is a great way to stay in contact. School Pete was my biggest and best crush! I have a lot of good memories of us at school during our senior year, Grad Nite being one of the best. Other best memories are of good times with great friends..Lisa Ha..., Kathy O..., Alicia Sch....., Denise Cl..., and Nan Ke.....! We did all the fun things teenagers were supposed to do...plus some things we shouldn't have. ;) We had some guy friends who hung out with us a lot..Dave Fr....., Bill Mo..., and John Tr......, It was terribly sad when Dave was killed short...Expand for more
ly after graduation and when Nan passed on a several years ago. Most recently, Lisa passed from breast cancer shortly after we traveled to Europe in 2013 to relive our graduation trip. I still am in contact in one way or another with my above-mentioned friends. I loved Mr. Doty..he definitely inspired me to learn. Mostly I just did what I had to do to graduate. I hated Mr. Davis's "rainbow grading book" in Honors English. I wouldn't change much about my years at Warren. I met a lot of interesting people. High school was a time of fun with friends, enough money from working to do whatever I wanted and not much responsibility. Workplace Working is over-rated.....NOTHING compares to the joy of staying home with your children and watching them grow into unique individuals. I was able to be there and to participate for so much of their lives...I tease that my career was "Room Mom". That said, my first job was keeping score for the City of Downey recreation dept. After that, I worked in a men's clothing store as a cashier until the salesmen creeped me out with inappropriate comments. Then I started at Farrell's, which was owned by Marriott Corp. and worked my way up to Asst. Manager. You had to be 25 to become a store manager. Just before our first son was born, I became a homemaker and have stayed happily "unemployed" since then. I'm now babysitting two of my grandaughters two days a week. Being Gramma is almost better than being a parent. ;)
