Ann's Story

Life Since graduating from Austin High School, I have traveled a great deal all through the states. I still reside in the midwest, however, not in my beloved Chicago. During this time I met a wonderful man that I have had two beautiful children with, a girl and a boy. In addition, I helped in the rearing of nine other children that were not mine but all of whom I love dearly. I now have four grandchildren I do get to see the youngest one usually as often as I like; the other three I ususally have to wait for school vacations or long holiday weekends to see and have visit with me. My dauther and I are half way across the country from each other. I do treasure every moment we have been able to have together. All my grandchildren are bright, loving, and sensitive and I love each of them very much. In 1999 I went back to school for Business Administration and Communications, just to keep up with what was going on with computers. I loved it so much that I continued on into Graphic Design. I used both fields of study in the job I perform in a small business center were I had been employed for many years but now I am retired. Now, I can do what I want to do when I want to do it...just because I can. (Ha, ha) I have been blessed with excellent health and a great sense of humor. Those two attributes have gotten me through life's trials and tribulations and at this point in my life I could honestly say "so far so good. 2011 Well, things have not been so good in my life of late; I have lost my very sweet and always charming life partner. I miss him so very much. It can not be conceived what pain and sorrow one can go through and still be alive. 2013 Looking forward to a much better year, was able to live through this period of grief and seem to be going forward. The help of stong family and friends HAS HELPED SO MUCH! The healing effect of the ocean and really all of nature is not to be discounted. So many things can contribute to healing heart and mind. I'm blessed to have had every tool I need to help heal me in my grief. To anyone that reads this and you may be grieving for a loved one that has passed. Find help talk to your support line and look to the Lord. Time and all of the kinds of things that I have mentioned will help you to heal and put things in their right prospective. 2014 Doing just great. Getting through the year really nicely. Attended two weddings and marched in both, so cool. Now it is already October and the holidays are coming up; looking to have a great finish to a wonderful year. 2015 I am writing this now to catch up on this past year. It was uneventful in the respect that ther...Expand for more
e were no real downers but there was a terrific UP! The birth of another beautiful and healthy grandson. Really, I have had a marvelous and blessed life as I am now in the winter of my life's journey I can actually look back and say so. 2016 This year I find myself worried for my country, things seem so unsettled for many, many people now a days. I am not speaking politics hear, however, I pray our next president will be able to sooth the hate and put the country on an even and more tolerant keel. We as Americans need a strong, honorable, and resolute new president and we Americans must make it our business to vote our conscience to elect the very best man to that office. So, Help us God!!! School Some of my most vivid high school memories are of playing sports. I played basketball, volleyball, and I especially loved swimming. At Austin we had a wonderful pool available and I took advantage of it. I feel at that time of my life I could have done anything and in the afore mentioned sports I was good, no, maybe I should say very good. In addition, I loved English Lit., Amer. History, but difinitly not math, no no no!! I hardly ever missed school and in a weird way I guess it was really fun! Some of my teachers were cool. I'm not sure of the spelling of their names but there was Ms. Budzinsky, Biology 1. She was nice but threw a royal fit when some certain person put a cigarette in her stuffed storks bill, what a riot. Then there was Ms. Levit, health and gym teacher. Ms. Levit, also instructed swimming and she was good. I did learn some great swimming strokes and dives. Yes, high school was a great time for me except for Ms. Shehee's classes, Algerbra 1 and 2. Oh my gosh! What a nightmare!! Hey, but my brother had her as his math teacher a year earlier and thought she was the greatest. Well whatever, somebody must have learned algerbra at Austin but hey, it wasn't me. Now, could there be anyone at Austin High from 58 to 62 that doesn't remember the "Green Grill." It is amazing that anyone of us that ever bought school supplies there didn't end up with teminal cancer let alone the kids that sat down and actually ate there for a whole lunch period. "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" I am now well past my graduation year from high school and I did graduate, but believe it or not, I still, every once in a while have this dream, (I'm screaming and crying at my guidance counselor, in this little office, that I was one credit short from being able to graduate and I would never be able to graduate with my class and it was all his damned fault because he never told me; then I wake up. Wow!) How scary is that?
