Ann's Story
Life
I am happily married, mostly because my husband is also my best friend. We will be married for 19 years Aug.'09. My husband and I dated for 8 yrs. before we were both ready to marry. We have a very beautiful 14 yr. old daughter, Michelle Rose. I am a stay at home mom, because raising my daughter and being there for her has been a priority. However, I also hold a position on two boards, my Temple and my daughter's dance school. We live in Scranton PA (my husband's home town). Which by the way, was the 363rd word in Barak Obama's election victory speech! It was in reference to Biden, who lived here (and still calls this his home town) until he was 10 yrs. old. All making Scranton a more desirable place to live! My husband is an HVAC Mechanical Contractor, he keeps us hot in the winter and cold in the summer! My daughter is a dancer, and in her spare time she attends Scranton High School. She is currently in her freshman year and unlike her mother, she is taking all honors classes. We are a small but very tight family, along with a Shi Tzu dog to make us complete.
School
I had a lot of crushes, some of them I'd still like to keep secret, some are still close friends. I truly liked Miss Ryback, her b d was the same as mine and she once changed the seating so I could get to know a crush better! Freshman year I was given the best locker, it was at a centrally located corner and I somehow managed to keep it for 4 yrs. All of my friends would meet me ther...Expand for more
e in between classes, it held lots of great memories.
College
Unlike most, I waited 5 yrs after graduating high school to attempt college. I started out at a local junior college, surprisingly I did well and liked it. I then transfered my credits to a local 4 yr college and attained a BS in Marketing. Since I was a bit older than most of my classmates I lived off campus and worked as a cocktail waitress to help put myself through college. Regretfully, I did not apply myself in high school, and attending and graduating college really made me feel good about myself.
Workplace
Like most of my friends, I babysat for $. I had a steady Saturday night job, which would earn me $5 per week. I would take that $ and buy clothes, that's when a nice pair of jeans only cost $5. One day I met a friend near Browntown Shopping Center, I was broke and she loaned me a dollar. She had a REAL job, working at KFC. I wanted to have $ like her, so I applied and got hired. I had strong work ethics at a very early age, right after High School I remember working 2 jobs back to back. Then I got smart and got a waitressing job and made a lot of $ fast and in less hours! That's what I used to put myself through college until I was able to apply for positions in my area of study. Now I let my husband earn the $ and I take care of the house and my daughter. If the right job came along I would go back to work, there's still something about having your own $ that appeals to me.
