In 1970, at a college watering hole near the University of South Florida when I was in Tampa visiting my parents who had retired here in 1965 -- I had been living in New England and New York City for several years and was on my way to a new job in San Francisco -- met on Valentines Day, married in November, never made it to California.

age 28, will be awarded his PhD in Molecular Biology / Genetics by the University of South Florida College of Medicine next month. He is a compassionate, articulate, kind man; a dedicated and talented scientist; a thoughtful, supportive husband (of four months -- his fabulous wife, Felice, is an attorney here in Tampa) -- in short, his father and I are tremendously proud of him.
