Anne's Story
I wrote the following using the story Wizard. Just lazy I guess.
Re: old friends I just hope old friends remember me. I didn't have a lot of friends in high school. I can barely remember what I ate yesterday. tee hee.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, life led me down a different path to motherhood.
My favorite way to relax is music, music, music, especially performing live. Can't get enough of it. I'm a singing fool.
My musical hero is Bonnie Raitt. My personal hero is my husband, Eddy.
After high school I lived in Renton, Capitol Hill, then Skyway, Burien, Des Moines, West Seattle (15 years!) and now Bellevue.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Bob Dowell, my ex hubby, because I'd like to know how he's doing. We were married for 10 years and he helped raise my son.
I am obsessed with life, friends, family, beads, our dogs, singing and most of all Eddy, my husband.
My biggest surprises in life were the premature birth of my son (two months early) and my spinal cord injury at age 45, which resulted in paraplegia.
Living with a spinal cord injury is challenging, but I have a great life with lots of support from friends and family. I use a wheelchair full time for mobility, drive my own van, and am very independent.
If I had limitless money to improve my home, I'd add on a state-of-the-art recording studio for Eddy. My dream home would be built around a central courtyard, like my current house, except a much bigger courtyard, servants and a gardener included, of course.
The teacher I'd most like to see again is Mr. Larson, our English teacher. He inspired me to become a writer.
To be truly happy, I'd eliminate pain from my life. Otherwise, I'm truly happy now.
My current age is 59. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be stodgy and boring. Now I know that a lot of folks my age are unquestionably complex, creative an...Expand for more
d fun. Oh, and there are a few stodgy and boring ones but I try to steer clear of them.
My first crush was Brent Marchbanks at Dimmitt Jr High, who I recently reconnected with through a disabled musician's website. (just google my name and it's the first that comes up) Brent is married, an attorney, and a musician who lives in Idaho. Rock on, Brent!
My style is pretty eclectic. I love bright colors, comfortable clothes and gorgeous scarves.
I share my home with Eddy and our three dogs, Jake, Lily and Sugar, whom I find endlessly entertaining. Eddy is my sweet husband.
If I could do something over, it would have been to study music as a child and continue on into adulthood. Even though I've written many songs, I still don't know how to read music. I think it's the math that throws me.
In 10 years, I hope to be still singing. I'm hoping Eddy will be retired and we can play music full time.
My oldest friend is Cathy Fields (Hodges class of 68). Can't quite remember how we met but it was in school. We clicked because we both loved the Beatles. We learned guitar from the same teacher and used to write songs together in her horse barn. How's that for a memory?
The thing that would surprise people at a reunion would be seeing me in a wheelchair. But honestly, most people in my class wouldn't remember me anyway.
My first job was at Kentucky Fried Chicken, where I got paid .50/hr to be the counter girl. What I remember most about it is that it was the hottest summer I can remember and even hotter in the kitchen, oh and then there was the time I accidentally dropped a bandaid into the cole slaw. Oops!
If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to charity, then spend the rest on my kids, my grandkids and my husband.
My dream job would be rock star, but at this point my dream job would be retirement for me and my husband.
My best friend would tell you I'm neurotic :), but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as a grinnin' fool.
