Anne's Story

More about Anne:"I am a member of the "senior" class now, although I don't think I look or act and I certainly don't feel that way. During my earlier years, off and on I taught biology and general science in junior high, senior high, and occasionally at the college level, but my main "career" was as stay-at-home mom. We managed to raise (we think) two terrific kids. Larry was a professor and chair of Paper Science and Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for 29 years. We are both retired now. We live in the country on a former dairy farm, grow a huge garden, heat our home with wood, have solar PV and hot water systems, and try to leave a relatively low carbon footprint. In retirement I have become quite interested in genealogy and family history and I have built a really nice, well documented tree online at Ancestry.com. re most important are great people pictures. Although I prefer slide photography, I am impressed by how well one can improve digital photos, including digital copies of vintage family photos, and I've done a lot of work in this area. Both Larry and I enjoy canoeing, camping, hiking, we've done some backpacking, though not enough, and I still get turned on by watching and raising insects, turtles, amphibians, etc. We are avid public radio listeners- Wisconsin has the best public radio in the country. I volunteer to work on political campaigns, and we remain very active in the local Audubon Chapter we helped start in Central Wisconsin over 30 years ago. We try to eat healthy meals and exercise regularly. We've been able to take some really great trips and hope to do more. Sometimes we stop and visit old friends or distant relatives on these trips- that part has been really fun. We have been very fortunate so far, and we count our blessings. I have several projects, mostly relating to family history, that I want to complete, so I hope to be around long enough to finish those jobs.
