Anne-Marie's Story
Anne-Marie (Anne) was born at Ft. Lewis, WA. Raised in WA, AZ, NM, NY, England and CA. Moving to Oakland in 1961. Her high schools include Notre Dame (Alameda) and St. Elizabeth's (Oakland). Being a military brat she has done a lot of traveling and by the time she graduated from high school had been to ten schools in seven cities (two states and two countries). Anne, never to sit still went to five colleges. Laney (Oakland) College of Arts and Crafts (Oakland), Inver Hills (Inver Grove Hts, MN), University of Minnesota (St. Paul, MN) and University of Maryland (Bremerhaven, Germany). Anne has a degree in Arts and Humanities and one in Liberal Arts. She's had jobs in the retail, insurance, education, finance, hotel, medical and bio-tech fields. Retiring from Bayer Diagnostics in 2005.
During college Anne worked at the Oakland Army Base where she met her first husband. She moved to Minnesota and got married. After her husband graduated from dental school they moved to Germany. Anne moved back to the Bay Area in 1980, living in Oakland, Concord and Alameda. She divorced in 1982. ial Club in San Francisco. Anne resides in Alameda with her husband (a retired Marine fighter pilot) and mother (until her passing in Dec 2014 at age 91).
Anne has two step-daughters. The older one lives in Singapore with her Aussie husband and two children. The younger one lives in CT with her husband, daughter, horse and dog.
One of Anne's favorite quotes is:"Freedom is not free. Thank a Veteran."
Anne has combined her two loves (drawing and sewing) by making and selling quilts. She has also donated a number. There is one hanging at Oakland Police Officers Association in Oakland, honoring the four offices who died in March 2009, one at the Lakeview PD in Lakewood, WA, honoring the four officers who died in Nov 2009, one at the National Law Enforcement Museium in DC honoring all the officers who died in the line of duty in 2009 and one in a little town in Germany honoring the 9 crew members of her father's B24 which crashed in Feb 1945. Her father and one other survived. Anne also made one honoring all 51 officers that died in the line of duty from Oakland.
Anne enjoys family, genealogy, traveling, reading, sewing, watching old movies, baseball, football and good friends.
