Anne's Story
Life
I've had a few name changes since high school. I changed my name to my mother's maiden name during college (Ornelas) then married in Y2K to add my husband's name. I also received a new sister-in-law that same year, Diane Turley (now Diane de Lemos) when she married Derek's brother Mark. How about that?! We met when Diane and Mark put together a Rec League softball team in 1996 and we played together until 2003 (the hubby's are still around).
We still live in the bay area, can't bear to leave with all that there is to do here. My career is going well. I work for a non-profit organization as Director of Membership. I returned to school in 2004 and am now happy to say that I have graduated once again...this time a Master's degree in Organizational Management. Whew, glad that's over!
Life is treating us well and we are enjoying it to the fullest. Hope you are, too!
School
I will always remember...the BANNA mobile, Marley's car...driving my Bug until it had no gas...the melted shoe incident...Europe in 84 with Julie, Cheryl & Dean...Wrestling season...Track and Cross Country...Football games, BEAT PITT!...Partying with Christina and Jackie...Grad night, DISNEYLAND!...Good times...good people.....Expand for more

College
Graduated from CSUS "Sac State" in 1992 with a Bachelor's in Psychology. In 2004, I decided to purse a master's degree in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix. That had to be one of the most challenging experiences, but very enriching. I went through the online program so there is no actual classroom, it was all "virtual". A very different way of going to school, but it worked for my busy schedule!
Workplace
Since 1999 I have worked in nonprofit association management. My first job was as Awards/CME Coordinator (CME is continuing medical education). I learned all about this interesting world of people and groups dedicated to bringing professional development to its constituents. My next job was at another medical specialty society (international membership), in Berkeley, where I worked in the membership department for four years. My years in retail customer service came in handy there.
I am currently the Sr. Director, Member Relations for a national member-based organization whose members serve older adults. I have a very exciting opportunity ahead of me as I continue to prepare for my next career step to a CEO/Executive Director level position. I'll keep you posted!
