Anne's Story
Updated 2016: When they asked you in grade school what you wanted to be when you grew up, who knew where we'ÂÂd be now? And although we thought things were moving fast 50 years ago, the pace now was inconceivable! For many years, I just went with the flow (our 60'ÂÂs mantra). Then, after a false start in elementary education, I found purpose in Purchasing Management and Motherhood. My favorite jobs were in high tech state-of-the-art manufacturing where I got to work with some very talented engineers and professionals. Now I'm embarking on retirement and finding many ways to fill my time: reading, knitting, community volunteer work, home improvement, travel.... We have downsized and moved into a single-story house in a quiet neighborhood. My next trip in 2016 will be to Ireland and Italy with my girlfriends. Can'ÂÂt wait to share stories with you!

day! I just hope it'll last until I decide to retire in a few years. Inspite of my brush with the infamous Stanford brainiacs in the late '70s-early '80s, I never struck stock-option gold. So, I can't retire yet.
My two fledgling sons are still in the Portland, OR, area, so we visit often. They have chosen lives very different than what we were used to: one's an aspiring Spielberg and one's a closet John Romero. My husband of 40 years still thinks he's a rock bass guitar player, although his arthritis, etc., prevents him from earning a living. Me, I spend my spare time making prayer shawls, reading, and singing in the choir. I'll sing until they tell me to stop. Maybe.
Someday, I'd like to go to Europe. Or back to Maui if I can ever look OK in a bathing suit again. If you have room in your back pack, call me!
But, as much as I miss my friends from Maryland, I am on the West Coast to stay. The best time to visit is July-October. But it's a secret Oregonians don't share, especially with Californians.
Isn't this a great way to re-connect?
