Anthony's Story
Life
I was never really popular in High School. I was kinda quiet and shy. I wasn't good enough to play sports. At one point I quit school to go to work. With the help of a few of my teachers, I was able to return to school, make up all my work and graduate with my class.
For someone who spent most of his time in the Dean's office for fighting in school and ditching class, I never thought a law enforcement career would be in any part of my future. My English Teacher Ms. Jones would always say that a person like me would make a good cop. I thought she was crazy. Now after 40 years she still reminds me of her prediction, (Ha Ha).
I went into the Marine Corps after high school and was trained as a military police officer. Then I went to work for the criminal investigations department as a marijuana dog handler. In 1972 I was transferred to the Marine Barracks, Adak, Alaska. I stayed on Adak as a Military Police Officer until I was honorably discharged in 1973.

ied for different law enforcement jobs and was hired by the State. I spent 8 years as a uniformed Peace Officer and 2 years as the Chief of Hospital Police at Camarillo State Hospital.
In 1984 I was promoted and transferred to the Investigations Branch of the State Department of Social Services. I investigated sex crimes in preschools, sexual assault, physical abuse and homicides in board and care homes for the elderly.
In 1986 I transferred to the Medi-Cal Fraud Investigations Branch of the State Department of Health Services. I was promoted to Supervisor in 1994 and stayed with that branch until my retirement in 2004.
In 2005 I returned to Rubidoux High and gave a lecture to the students for Career Day. It had been 35 years since I walked the campus. I felt as if I had come full circle and accomplished more than I could ever imagine.
I've been married for 43years and live in southern California. I have three children and eight grandchildren. I am enjoying my retirement and my grandchildren.
