Kyle's Story

Life Currently, I live just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I moved here in 1998 after doing 9 years in the Marine Corps. I am currently working in the field of aviation as an Electronic tech/Electronic warfare technician. Basically, I'm still affliated with the military. I'm married with one child( my main man "Nique") and just trying to enjoy life. Hopefully, I can catch up with some old friends School During high school I attended Southern Lab, where I was a member of the "Mighty Kittens" track and football teams. There are some things that I wish I had done during high school and some I wish I hadn't, but, "The Lab" school was where I needed to be at that point in my life. I made friends with many individuals that passed through there; before and after me, and the memory of them will stay with me no matter how distant we become. College I attended Southern U after graduating from Southern Lab. To be honest, it wasn't in my top 3 or 4 choices. But I decided to give it a try since it was a family tradition. Stayed 2.5 years and decided to join the service, so that I could attend the school of my choice. As I look back, I should have stayed but only because I didn't give my all. I left with basically a high C average but it could have been better. However, I still left with fond memories of S.U. and there were professors that left lasting impressions; such as, P. Armstrong. Military This will be quick. Enlisted march'89 and spent my first year and a half on the west coast. Yes, a hollywood Marine but a Marine is a Marin...Expand for more
e regardless of which coast you went to. We just went through different trials and tribulations. Anyway, went to basic electronics and radar school in the Stumps(29 Palms). Hot Hot Hot. 122 deg the first day I stepped off the bus. Matter of fact I jumped back on. I spent 6 years at Cherry Point for different reasons. It seemed as if I'd never get away from there or from certain people as that goes. I finished my career at MCLB Albany in Ga. due to an injury that was misdiagnosed. In short, I sustained an injury to my knee that was thought to be a severe strain. As it turned out(at the time) I fractured my fibula just below the knee. Then it was found that my ACL was severed and a MCL was severly damaged. Surgery was done, rehab started and then stopped due to the change in the medical facility at MCLB Albany. Still tried to stay in but one individual; a Marine officer on the med board wouldn't allow it. As he put it "If I couldn't run a PFT and pass the next week then the Corps didn't need me." I'll end by saying that I feel that I acheived alot, but not everything I set out to achieve. I overcame obstacles and individuals whom wanted to see me fail and tried to do what they could to bring about my failure. Pulley and cohorts! You know who you are. Matter of fact aren't some of you on this list? Anyway I enjoyed my time on active duty and the many individuals that I met and had no problem calling my brothers and sisters of the Corps. As it was before and how it is now, I've never lost faith in myself or the Corps. Semper Fi Marines.
