Anton's Story
Life
Executive Producer of CTV's W5 - the longest-running television program in Canada and the most-watched newsmagazine program in the country. W5 has been on the air longer than any other newsmagazine in the world, except for BBC's Panorama (yes, longer than 60 Minutes!).
After Temp I went to BCIT and graduated in Broadcast Journalism. I then worked for BCTV and CBC in Vancouver as a reporter, assignment editor and newscast producer. Also did a stint as producer/reporter with Jack Webster. In 1981, became the youngest-ever producer for CBC's the fifth estate, based out of Vancouver. During the next 12 years I produced dozens of documentaries, including investigative reports. I travelled extensively in Canada, US, Europe and Asia. In 1993, I moved to CTV's W5 with Eric Malling. In 1994, was appointed CTV's Toronto Bureau Chief, ...Expand for more
moving to Ontario. I worked as correspondent for CTV until 1998, when I was appointed Senior Producer, W-FIVE (w5.ctv.ca). In 2007 I produced CTV's highly-acclaimed, two hour special documentary Triumph & Treachery: The Brian Mulroney Story. Until 2010 I was also Executive Producer of CTV's annual Conversation with the Prime Minister. In July 2009 I was appointed Executive Producer of W5. I also manage the CTV Elections Unit, covering federal, provincial and major municipal elections. In 2011 I was Executive Producer of the CTV Election 2011 broadcast - a 7-hour live TV production using every reporter and production resource available to the CTV Network. I live in Toronto and visit Vancouver regularly. I can be reached at Anton.Koschany(at)ctv.ca (replace the (at) with the usual at symbol). I'd love to hear from my old classmates.
