April's Story
Life
After graduation I went to Bowling Green for three years and majored in nursing. I decided I needed to escape Ohio and packed my bags and headed to Tampa, Florida. I was engaged to a loser from Tri-State for 3 years. During this time I attended USF College of Nursing. After graduation (May 2001) I realized that he was going NO WHERE and decided to move on to bigger, better things. Through the summer I dated a fellow classmate, Jesus(my future husband). He joined the Navy and was stationed in California. We did the long distance thing for about a year. He proposed while on a Caribbean cruise, how romantic. A secluded private beach... Two months later we had a secret wedding. Only our two closest friends knew. Well until Roxanne told Emily and Emily told my sister. Yes it was a mess. The word spread around, we didn't know what family/friends knew and who didn't. I moved out to San Diego in the June of 2002. (Sunshine girl becomes Cali girl). It was great! I started working at the Naval Hospital on the Pediatric/Oncology Ward. This was a very rewarding experience. It totally brought a new propective to nursing taking care of sick and dying children. Jan 04 Jesus and I had a very expensive and extravagant wedding in Tampa. For our honeymoon we went on a 2 week cruise of the Eastern Caribbean. had the choice to go to France, Italy, Sicily, Japan, Guam, or Iceland. We decided to spend the next 2.5 yrs of our life in Iceland. Contrary to most of your beliefs, Iceland is not full of ice. Yes, it is referred to as the land of ice and fire, but there is so much beauty here. From our living room window we get to gaze out at the beautiful snow capped mountains. About 10 min away is the Blue Lagoon, a well known hot springs throughout Europe. (And no it is not topless for those that are wondering). The winter temp varys from the 20's to the mid 40's and summer temp avg mid 50's - 60's. Although last year they had the highest recorded temp ever 83. We are looking forward to the summer so we can do lots of traveling throughout Europe. Airfare is extremely cheap. We can take a flight to Germany for $23.
What Else Has Happened???
-No kids, although trying.
-Still active, competing in 5k/10k, Duathlons, and Triathlons.
-Enjoy traveling and seeing the world, enjoy having the means to do so.
-Many of you will be surprised that Roxanne and I are no longer friends. Long story but in a nutshell was supposed to be my maid of honor in my wedding but didn't show up. Don't know the specifics, all I know is I called her cell phone ONE WEEK before the wedding and there was a message on there for me "if this is April leave me alone". Who knows. Must of had other priorities.
